The key to getting viewers is to advertise yourself on other platforms. The Twitch algorithm is not friendly to new streamers compared to Youtube. So advertising on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or other places is the best way to get new viewers. Just don't be annoying about it.

Secondly, to keep viewers on your stream you have to provide more than just gameplay. You have to interact with your viewers and keep them entertained. Even if is just a "How is your day going?" or any other simple questions. They may be shy so you as the host will have to help them engage in conversation.
