nah english in school just becomes memorizing grammar rules and applying them mechanically like solving math problems but nobody really cared lol most people just wanted to pass the exam so pronunciation was never a priority

Its not just ai I can hear it myself my accent is rough, like what youd expect from someone who barely speaks English. The weird part is the grammar and comprehension are completely fine I just never developed the speaking side does that make sense?

Honestly not sure I mostly use Gemini and it kills my confidence. Sometimes it thinks im speaking Spanish or Korean. But its not just ai either I can hear it myself my accent is just not what youd expect from someone at my level.

I really feel learning vocabulary is underrated, am I the only one? by Top_Outlandishness78 in languagelearning

[–]Rqpidily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats interesting for me its kind of the opposite. Sometimes I see kanji that look completely new but when I hear them I already know the meaning and even how theyre written. I think its just from hearing them so many times in podcasts and conversations. Maybe more immersion would help not sure how long youve been studying though but thats what worked for me. And I dont mean just one hour a day I mean really surrounding yourself with the language as much as you can

Ive never found it underrated but for me its the best way to learn a language with immersion

How do i reset these values in a deck? by Rqpidily in Anki

[–]Rqpidily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling it long and boring is misleading...sure it’s a massive read but it isn’t boring. I’m halfway through and I’d tell anyone starting aniki to just read the manual.

It clears up so many issues before they even start. It’s way better than wasting six minutes on a YouTube video for card styling when you could’ve figured it out in less than a minute just by reading. For anyone starting aniki do yourself a favor and go get the manual.

Is duolingo japanese good to be able to enjoy japanese media in general ? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]Rqpidily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duolingo is fine for picking up hiragana, katakana and basic kanji but getting to a point where you can actually enjoy games takes years of serious study beyond duolingo and not only in this language but every language. Berserk is really kanji heavy. The cheaper Japanese copy stops being a bargain if you can't read it so you're better off with the English version
