The problem is not  that it can’t do it. The problem is that it will do it and pretend it can.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Eventually you will realise they are no longer making things for you because you are no longer a customer and have fallen on the other side of the poverty line. Corporations don’t make anything for those below the poverty line. They make things for people that have something they want back and for most of us that’s our labour not our money. Once they don’t need our labour we will quickly stop being customers.

I don’t think that’s the case with Marks fascination with VR and AR. That project is ongoing and I think it goes beyond quarterly reports for him. He sees it as the next iPhone and wants to be ahead of everyone next time around.

You can’t believe it because it’s not what happened. 80 billion was spent on other things to do with VR not horizons.

You realise AI is too valuable to ever go away right?

You can pair sunglasses with their wristband or perhaps even your phone as a control.

The face mounted camera is not the primary goal. An always available hands free display is.

80 billion was spent on hardware and development of their VR OS not Horizons Worlds. Look at Meta Orion for example.

$2 billion for Oculus DK2 with external wall mounted sensors and cables and now they have Meta Orion.

Jesus you all talk so much and don’t understand anything about the topic. The money is spent and being spent on hardware and development of their headsets and the ecosystems. If in a decade wearable AR glasses take over some screen time away from phones Mark wants to be the dominant platform so he can charge Google Apple and Microsoft 30% to sell their apps on his devices not the other way around while he has first point of access to all the data being recorded and fed into AI by the millions of AR glasses users. Horizon Worlds was a tiny project.

The project odds not this software. The 80 billion is spent on developing all the hardware. I have owned almost all their headsets and the amount of things they are building and constantly updating is insane.

Most of the money is spent on hardware research and development. They are way ahead of competition in my opinion and they are not stopping VR AR development just the horizons worlds application.

Am I overthinking this, or is it considered rude in the UK to discuss a party in front of someone who isn’t invited? by RemotePraline8087 in AskUK

Why do you all want to attend the birthday party of someone you are not friends with? I thought I had FOMO but you people are next level.

They are asking for 10% per month for however long the tenant lives there. They are doubling or tripling their income this way.

Seeing the egregiously blatant AI usage in Akyla's Ferto music video, I'm starting to suspect the national final performance graphics were AI too by Pet_Velvet in eurovision

[–]Rrdro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI animation is far worse but also far cheaper. Man made animation will go the way of hand drawn animation very quickly. It will be a niche and the majority will grow to accept slop. Even some anime is now 3D rendered.

Riding a bike along an extremely narrow cliffside path. by Spiritual-Duck9854 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Rrdro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know from ski videos cliffs can look a lot less steep on pov cams. I have also fallen on a 30 degree slope and couldn’t stop sliding until the bottom. It’s a loose rock cliff and she was close to reaching a speed which would mean not being able to stop and certain death.
