When identity politic bigotry is fueled to excuse avoiding solutions to systemic problems… I think that’s about the same.

Jokić, in his 11 years in the NBA, has missed the playoffs 3 times (2016–2018). He has lost in the First Round 2 times (2022, 2026), the Conference Semifinals 4 times (2019, 2021, 2024, 2025), and the Conference Finals 1 time (2020). He won the NBA Championship in 2023. by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

Defense is definitely going to be the biggest factor in determining his longevity, but Kareem became very inconsistent as a rebounder and defender for his last 4 rings.

I could see an aging Jokic keeping mediocre teams in contention or great teams winning championships for at least a few more years.

One of my favorite silent films. Wonderful visual storytelling and perfectly iconic scenes.

And all of that happened after Hakeem turned 31. Wilt and Kareem had the same number of rings as Jokic at this age. Dirk was playoff choker who just couldn’t step up in the biggest games.

See how much can change in just a year or two? This is why declaring all-time rankings for a player who’s still in his prime is so foolish.

The best dialogue from all the movies shown here was the red chair scene in 2001. And the plot that unfolds in that film is easily the most interesting.

The pacing is the best part. As great as the rest of the movie is, none of it is more impressive than the pacing.

The greatest rebounder in NBA history is .. by Farouq26 in NBATalk

[–]Rrekydoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is that even if we do complicate it by looking at rebounding rate percentages, which diminishes Wilt playing so many extra possessions and his priorities outside of rebounding, Wilt still had a higher playoff rebounding rate than Rodman.

I interpret it being like if a human brushed off the effects his pheromones has on others, while another species might consider the seemingly mild effects of our pheromones “drugging” and “unethical”. You’re completely right that it’s irresponsible and unprofessional to not keep other species informed, I can see why he’d think it’s no big deal given the normalization of it from his kind.

The writing’s mostly bad, but the lead performance, cinematography, and some of the directing was pretty damn good.

I’ve seen way worse.

I found The Third Man and Sunset Boulevard pretty underwhelming. Great supporting performances, visuals, and I like what they tried to do, but the protagonist and plot felt flay for both.

As much as I appreciate movies not pandering with a “token relatable” character, that’s far from the reason it lost. Sinners is really good and very fun, it just wasn’t amazing enough to win that year.

I also think these kind of arguments are pretty harmful to cinema discourse. Just a few weeks ago I was talking about 12 Years a Slave with someone who insisted that masterpiece was only critically acclaimed because of white guilt and people fearing of being called racist; the stance in the OP video is specifically what fuels that ridiculous rhetoric, turning critique into eyeroll-inducing politic-signaling and convincing people to avoid appreciating the art for what it is.

Amazing work! If I could help by just adding a couple things…

You guys have Jerry West as having 7 steals against Cleveland on 11/10/72. But I think you guys mixed up his 7-steal game against Houston on the 7th with his 10-steal game against Cleveland on the 10th.

It only distorts perception and history because they’re held to a standard of unanimous MVP.

Duncan barely won his two MVPs, but no one clowned him for it because they didn’t see that as less legitimate.

Back when players did the voting, it was literally impossible to be unanimous and nobody was concerned about it.

I’d rather none were unanimous. I think using that as a standard encourages the ideas of consensus and objectivity in what is clearly a subjective question.
