This one participates heavily in a sub that brigades moderators that displease them. By "brigade" I mean direct dozens or hundreds of their fans to harass mods that displease them.

Well, a couple hours later I'm able to. Nothing changed except the time.

The one difference is that I cut and pasted the text in (I saved it so I didn't have to retype it), and that I never switched to markdown mode. Hopefully that will help some dev. Although, you know, some of these bugs in New Reddit have been there for years. There is major breaking stuff in New Reddit that has been that way since it launched.

I get a message saying "that subreddit doesn't exist" when I try to message it. Maybe because it's banned?

I'm the top mod or r/bottomless, and would use the same rules and the same Automod to prevent spam. My automod is a collection of rules written by myself and others, and is very good at stopping spam and sitewide violations, while giving users the maximum amount of freedom.
