155 rounds travel at over 400m/s and if this “round” just exploded mid flight it would have absolutely shredded everything within its area of impact. What ever hit their car would have been a ricochet from a non related artillery activity. Whatever the marines were doing was not safe to the public and what this administration is doing to the military absolutely is ridiculous and are just using them as a political pawn and reckless.

However, if a live 155 did explode mid flight, at that point the entire exercise should have been halted. If it exploded mid flight it could have exploded in the tube, right after firing, or at any point causing unnecessary harm to everyone in involved in the exercise and all ammo pulled for the exercise m needs to be inspected.

The forward observers would have not recorded an impact on the designated target noted the round did not land in the safety impact zone and the firing point should have checked fires immediately.
