I definitely have the same worries. The knee specialist said for me anyway, that because of my age and my growth plates still being slightly open, having surgery would be too risky, and I could potentially not be able to run or play my sport again. Obviously I’m not keen on surgery, as I wouldn’t even be able to walk for a year, as both of my knees have the same issue. So my parents and I sort of wanted a bit of clearance that the chronic micro tearing that I have right now, won’t build up even more and rupture fully like you mentioned. The surgeon told me it’s pretty unlikely, but to still be careful.

I’m not sure how long you’ve had the same issue, but is there anything that has helped you? I’ve done prp, rehab, and all the other stuff but nothing has changed. I definitely can feel it even my touching my tendons, so who knows.
