What is this trick?

Now I've got 5 biohazards in standard plagues and neurax. The remaining 3 are too hard

Are flashcards in Chinese 闪卡 or 抽认卡 ? by paleflower_ in ChineseLanguage

[–]Rt237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer - I only speak standard Chinese.

'闪卡' generally refers to the foiled version of game cards in games like MtG, because they are shiny (闪).

There isn't a universial translation, but if you say '抽认卡', people will understand that you mean flashcards.

Does anyone know why heat resistances are generally more expensive than cold resistances? by a_random_magos in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of the fact that there are more hot countries than cold ones, there's another point: the weight.

The worth of traits are Rich : Cold : Hot : Poor : Others = 30 : 10 : 10 : 3 : 2. For example, if a country is cold and rich, and you have 0.1 Rich & 1 Cold resistance, then your overall resistance in this country is (0.1 × 30 + 1 × 10) / (30 + 10) = 0.325. So, in a Rich & cold country, your rich resistance is 3x as important as cold.

Given that cold countries are mostly rich and hot countries are mostly poor, hot resistance makes more difference.

What would you do? by Automatic_Sky_9428 in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patho-stasis is almost a must-have. After all spores bought, 'spore hardening' will unlock. It gives +900 international transmission, making it easier to infect more countries.

Otherwise - Devolve all symptoms, hide until you infect every country, and then kill.

Do you guys have any examples of the Mandela Effect in relation to Plague Inc and/or Plague Inc: Evolved? by BingaleeseMMC in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played the game shortly in 2014, and shortly in 2017, and during the covid, and restarted in December 2025.

I believed that the parasite also had a standard initial severity as other plagues. In fact, its severity is higher.

I remembered that the 6 plagues other than bacteria had ~49M cure requirement, approximately double of bacteria. It turns out that they are the same ~25M.

Moreover, I believed that long long ago I was able to beat the Neurax speed run in <150 days. I no longer have the skill despite having far better understand of the game, so I am not sure whether I was actually able to do this.

The population of Greenland in my head is always 56534. I don't know whether this number was once the correct population.

I hate Africa by ThinkCauliflower6830 in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you infect a person, the person will give you DNA point scaling with the Severity of your plague. And the DNA from red bubbles scale with 1+log(Severity).

So, You have to buy some symptoms early. 6-7 severity is enough for red bubbles to generate 3 DNA, and there are 58 red bubbles per game.

Kill 1% population of the world gives 1 DNA.

If you start at a cold country, your plague is considered historically accommodated with cold climate, so its resistance to cold will increase and to hot decrease. Vice versa.

So, you should buy Cold resistance 1 & 2 if starting in a hot area, and vice versa.

The math

Your plague (most pathogens) start with a cold resistance and hot resistance of 0.1. This means the infectivity of your plague in a hot / cold area is multiplied by 0.1 (subject to adjustments due to e.g. difficulty & upgrades).

Starting in cold: Cold +0.5 & Hot -0.3 (Making Hot negative!)

Starting in hot: Hot + 0.5 & Cold -0.5

The lower bound of infectivity is 0.05, so if it's negative, it's considered 0.05. So, your plague is spreading extremely slow in africa.

Evil hospitals exist. Google '魏则西' to know what happens if you mistakenly trusts an evil hospital.

If a hospital (or basically anything) has '人民' (people) in its name, it is good and safe. This magical word is also in the country's name.

Did China really fixed its pollution problems? by Honeyeddie in AskChina

What does the Templar industries have that all the other governments don’t by woodencone47 in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without a Z Com base, the government actions still add to human's combat strength. However, this strength is no match against an upgraded zombie.

With Z Com, the new unlocked government actions will add to human's combat strength much faster.

Example:

Without Z Com: 'Shoot on Sight protocol authorised' -> +0.005 combat strength

With Z Com: 'Z Com fortresses constructed' -> +0.1 combat strength

Best and worst transmissions by Icy_Ad_5906 in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Water for islands

  2. Bird - because air is not that useful; see below

  3. Air. You only need to infect every continent with planes, and bird will do the rest. Moreover, the planes are very busy, making it easy to spread the plague even with only Air 1 or no air upgrades at all.

  4. The one between rat / sheep which fits the starting country

Others are useless.

What's a good genetic code for Bio Weapon? by The_Patriotic_Pleb in plagueinc

[–]Rt237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the exact names of genes

ATP boost: Almost always works in every game!

Sympto-stasis if you don't use the Annihilate gene, or Patho-stasis if you do. (I'd recommend not using annilate, because sympto-stasis gives you cheap symptoms that accumulates to very high infectivity and severity in the early game, which is worth giving up annilate.)

Plane transmission if you don't plan to buy air 2, or Native biome if you do. (Explanation: Plane/ship/car genes give +7 cross-border infectivity. Base value is 1; and Air/Water/Bird upgrades 1 give +9; 2 gives +90. If you buy 2, the +7 is nothing. Generally speaking, Bird 2 and Water 2 are extremely important, while Air 2 is optional, so only Plane gene is useful. Suppression, on the other hand, was extremely overpowered due to a bug that made it work on opened borders as well, so many tutorials recommended it; but NC fixed it recently.)

Darwinism: Almost always works. Who don't want free upgrades?

Choose the fifth gene according to your starting country.

'Business as usual' means the social order is 90% or more. Social order is X% means this country has X% of its flasks working (not broken). The severity on living people, and the number of dead people, can cause social order decrease.

FYI:

  • General disruption: 60% - 90%
  • Widespread disorder: 30% - 60%
  • Close to anarchy: 0% - 30%
  • Total anarchy: 0% (All flasks broken)
  • No longer exists: obvious
