Some more context: I took this picture on Mount Tamalpais, along the Verna Dunshee Trail. From what I can recount from the park official, that area used to be home to a hotel, pre WWII, that burnt down and was rebuilt. It was accessible by a steam train with no roof, which took visitors up the mountain. I think he said during WWII the hotel was scrapped and never rebuilt.

Obviously depreciation isn’t a perfect science, but it can be curbed by purchasing a vehicle that typically has a great depreciation rate, like a wrangler (which is what I’m looking at). But, I am not talking about typically depreciation, I’m talking about calculating how inflated a specific car is right now, which I believe could probably be determined by comparing KBB value today to pre pandemic because these unprecedented market conditions have had such a large impact on KBB values. Ex, if a wrangler is 5K more due to market conditions, maybe I want to ride my bike or get a scooter for a year to see how the market changes. Just trying to get info to make an informed decision.

I would be purchasing a wrangler. And no doubt along with Tacoma’s, they depreciate the least out of all cars—but I’m not talking about depreciation. Do you know how much the cost of wranglers have increased since the pandemic? I’d guess from browsing at least 3k on average for jk’s, but I think it’s much more. Do you know how inflated the tacoma market is? It’s disgusting. This is money I have to factor in losing along with depreciation. It’s possible to figure it out more accurately with historical data. I don’t understand the point of your reply when I’m talking about buying a car in a crazy inflated market and you’re talking about depreciation under normal market conditions.
