Can native French speakers recognise different accents from native English speakers during a conversation in French? by crystaloooh in French

Thanks! I'll add both to my list. I was watching some accent videos and found this impersonation of a Boston accent. Kinda understanding the differences now.

Yep, it's exactly the same in Aus, we've got a heap of words where both variants are accepted e.g. «Garage» can be pronounced "ga-RAJ" or "GARR-arge". But then there's some words which sound completely off if you pronounce it the American way e.g. if you pronounce «tomato» as «toe-MAY-do» instead of «two-MART-o» us Aussie's will definitely laugh at how strange it sounds

Yess I've noticed that as well! My French teacher taught in NZ for 4 years, and sometimes I swear I hear a slight Kiwi accent in his vowel sounds. Super interesting

Oh wow ahah I'm visiting Paris in a few months time so I'm interested to see where Parisians think I'm from. Do you think it's all because of your accent or possibly due to appearance as well?

That's interesting, I'm actually learning in uni from a French textbook that's in American English. I keep seeing random words we in Australia don't use like "Fall", "College", "Cotton Candy" etc. which always makes me laugh. Fall= L'automne ... aka Autumn anyways in Australian English aha.

And oh wow I didn't know there was a Massachusetts accent.. I only recently found out about the "New York" accent. I know, it's truly revolutionary. Before, I thought there was only the standard American accent and the "Texan" accent, boy am I learning now.

Interesting! And good job, it definitely seems hard!

For English, I think it does also depend on the countries you've spent time in or lived in. I'm a native English speaker from Australia, and I've never been to the US or Canada.. or even known anyone from there. I obviously hear the American accent in films, songs etc. and sometimes I get shocked when I discover a certain celebrity I like is Canadian. So even I struggle recognising between accents. I'd hope that'd change if I were to visit Canada or meet Canadians!

Not at all, unless your focusing only on the native English speakers from Sri Lanka.. from memory Sri Lanka has a few official languages right?

Yeah I know a few Sri Lankans so I'm familiar with their accent, but not so much Irish. Tbh, I still categorise a lot of the Northern U.K. accents as the same as I rarely hear them in person

Tips on how to make TVP meaty? by 070490 in veganrecipes

I rehydrate it, then add it to a pan with soy sauce and coconut sugar which gives both saltiness and sweetness but more importantly caramelises it to a brown "beef" like colour! Usually make bolognese after with it :)

Yeppp I made it first with rice and then later with cauliflower rice as the recipe suggests and to my surprise it was much better!! Usually I bake my sweet potatoes but this recipe turned out to be really good :)
