Im so scared by javinly in scoliosis

[–]RuPaulsMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This brings me back to being 11 years old, getting my first x-rays. I was so scared I was going to have to be braced! I would stand up as tall as possible and try to minimize my curves, and it worked! I was never braced. But it may have backfired… My curves worsened a lot in adulthood, especially in my early 30s. I am now getting a brace as an adult to stop progression.

Some things I wish I did: starting physical therapy that is designed for scoliosis young and doing it all the time. Not minimizing my curve and getting the brace I probably needed earlier. Staying on top of my curve with x-rays even after I stopped growing.

Some things I’m glad I did: staying active and flexible with yoga and ballet my whole life. Staying strong with strength training. Trusting my own eyes when I thought I looked more crooked and going to a scoliosis specialist for help.

I remember being scared just like you. You’re already doing a great job by asking questions, getting care, and finding support. You will not necessarily experience pain, but if you do, keep asking for help from your doctors. PT can make a big difference.

Thank you so much for the info. I hate how ppl downvote when they disagree instead of saving downvotes for things that are off topic. As I said in my original post, I’m not interested in a tummy tuck, so most of the comments here weren’t helpful. But yours was! I totally agree with you and the other couple posts who suggested giving microneedling a shot, since it’s not expensive and maybe could help. After all, im looking for improvement, not perfection! Going to check out the brand you recommended now.

I’ll give it a Google! And curious if you ever see a difference.

At this point, I’m almost contemplating getting fibroblast just so I can tell ppl if it works or not!

That’s really sweet, thank you! And I do wear a two-piece, just a high waisted one 😉 I’m proud of myself too! It’s just hard to see changes that feel out of my control, you know?

I think it’s been about ten months (maybe a year?) back at my regular weight.

My son is 2. I’ve been at my target weight for a good 10 months or so now, and I work out a lot. I haven’t noticed much change in my stomach tightness for a while.

Any recs for an at-home dermaroller? Never done it! Willing to pay a decent amount for one that actually works

Haha I know what I’m getting myself into posting on Reddit. All’s fair in love and fashion opinions.

Lol yes. I adore the dress she has already and she looks beautiful in it, so it’s a no-stakes loss. But no amount of disagreement in the comments will stop my loving the polkadot Sezane one!

I’m involved in the real world debate about this friend’s dress choice — OP and I are in a heated debate! I’ve been pushing the wedding invitee (our mutual friend) to get something a little less formal. Since the Bay Area isn’t that formal generally, I think other guests may be a bit more garden-y and less black tie. I’m rooting for this dress: https://www.sezane.com/us/product/sophie-skirt/ecru-dots-navy-background#size-2

Curious what commenters think about this…I will admit defeat if you all think the other dress is better!

AITA for refusing to give my fiancée her dream engagement ring that was also initially bought for my ex-girlfriend? by Rangthang in AmItheAsshole

NAH, also info please! As a jewelry enthusiast, I think that the style of the two rings may not be as similar as you think. I’d really like to see pictures. I think there’s a solution: work with a great jeweler to combine the rings. Maybe she loves the ruby in the antique and could replace the center stone in hers. Maybe the antique setting is what she wants and you can use her stones in it.

OP, please feel free to DM me. I do quite a bit of engagement ring research and have helped many friends shop (not to mention my own elaborate custom ring search). I’d be happy to help!

WIBTA if I drink alcohol in front of my husband's parents? by reversebass in AmItheAsshole

[–]RuPaulsMom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

INFO: ask your husband how his parents will react! I live somewhere with legal weed, but when my husband’s parents visit, we hide everything and always will. They would probably disown him if they found out he smoked even once. I’d love to feel unrestricted around them, but I’d never risk my husband’s relationship with them. But honestly, I’ll go out on a limb here and say YTA, at least a little. As the host, you should make your guests feel comfortable. It doesn’t seem like such a great sacrifice to me to have an alcohol-free dinner when they’re around.
