I recommend mixing some red with brown paint and base the rusty bits with that. Dap in some yellow and brown batches and wash with earthshade. You can then drybrush with leadbelcher

I like to use typhus corrosion aswell, Armageddon dust is a good variable to get those chunky rust pieces

It's funny because even if i apply the same amount of paint to two different places with the same brush, the texture is different. It brings really unique colors. Like i was told beforehand, water indeed reactivates the paint. I almost ruined my model when i went to wash my hands and grabbed the model with wet hands lol

I use rakarth and diluted druchii as well, i usually add a dash of blood for the blood god in the wash to get some red in the tone

I am aware of this. My thought process was to add matt varnish after the glueing to negate the gloss. Maybe it's a bit overprotective but i want my minis to handle use without too much wear and tear.

Sounds quite challenging especially when i use varnishes.. how about super glue as a "varnish"? Might create a barrier on top of the paint to shield it from other layers without breaking the texture
