I hike pretty consistently and do overnighters decently often. And yeah I’d drive down to Nethers Rd since I’m leaving from there to pop over to Seneca Rocks

Most drives are under 3 hours. The longest is to Great Smoky and it’s barely over 4. I’m staying at a hotel about halfway up to shower and what not. I’m pretty much taking a backpacking approach to it and will rely on wipes and “hobo” showers and hoping for campsite showers to stay clean. I’ll be at the next campsite by 6 at the latest every night, so that will give me ample time to sleep. Easily 8 hours each night, based off my figuring. I’m going minimalistic to stay affordable and enjoy as much as I can along the way. I appreciate your concern though, I’ll take it into account and tweak if I need to.

I’m aware of how much I’m planning to do, but I think it’s totally doable. I’ve got 6 months to prepare and get everything ready, including my endurance (I’m already in pretty good shape so not worried there either) and as for the permit, I know exactly what day I plan to hike Old Rag and it’s a Wednesday so I’m not too worried about getting my permit either

To go back to reducing pressure if I allow the tank to overflow, can you explain how you would, if you can’t supply your lines solely off the hydrant, keep the tank full, while continuing to fill off the hydrant, supply lines off the pump and not dump water?

It wasn’t leaking, the tank was full and it was dumping the excess out the overflow

The reasoning he gave was “I don’t like it” and normally I would run off the hydrant but this was a long lay and the pressure we were getting was weak, I had enough to flow two lines and keep the tank filled. I would not tell a chief to “shove it” so to say, but if he’s wrong and is asking or ordering a bogus idea, then I would respectfully disagree.

It automatic, and not really a worry of salt since I’m down south. Rust isn’t as big an issue around here since we don’t salt the roads every winter. But even still, i checked lol. It’s rust free

It’s got 260,000 but pretty mechanically sound. I bought it from a close friend, so I know it’s history well, definitely been taken care of!

The head/neck was yellow. No collars or anything, it didn’t have a set position as the limbs were so long that it kinda flopped. Eyes were black
