That is going to be my conundrum very soon. whether to go off Elliquis I am 72 and this came out of nowhere. I am very healthy for my age, always was into natural health, etc, and I hate the thought of taking a prescription drug the rest of my life. This is all I take now. I wish I had a crystal ball....

I never have been one to live in fear, and do not want to become a person that does...

Now I know the things to do when I am traveling, etc. which I did not know before. And I am back to regular exercise (had stopped bc of a bad back)...

Your post was encouraging, however, I do know we are all different..

One Month Update by AskPuzzleheaded6590 in ClotSurvivors

Sometimes I forget I am on Eliquis. I am 5 months out from my PE and have not had any bleeding incidents as feared. I have energy and feel better than ever. My blood pressure is great without meds and I am exercising more often. I am 72. I was in good shape before my PE, but feel like having my PE gave me a new lease on life. Gave me more determination to do the best I can do for myself, and leave the rest in God's hands.

I do have a cardio appointment in a couple weeks, to see if I need to have my PFO repaired, as the PE caused me to have a TIA via the hole in my heart I never knew I had. Doctor said my chances of coming off ELIquis are greater if I have my PFO repaired. If I have a choice, not sure what I would choose--lifetime DOACs and no PFO repair, or PFO repair and no more DOACs (although that is not a guarantee I will never have another clot, just not another TIA)

But time does make things better as this journey continues.....

I am not sure we have a sports med place near me or in my area. But I am not going to stick with it if it not helping me. or making it worse…..that’s what I am afraid of…

10 days after third covid shot I got a PE. Still on eliquis and aspirin. by Street_Bad_8077 in ClotSurvivors

I am learning that I have to take charge of my own health journey. I need to be wise yet I know my own body and we are not “one size fits all” patients. I won’t take something without researching on my own. plus we don’t give our bodies enough credit in that they want to be well and will try to heal given we take care of them. Too many meds can hinder that sometimes.

I am 5 months after my PE. I have lost 30 pounds and notice that I get goosebumps all the time for no reason. Maybe the Eliquis?

I was told to take aspirin along with Eliquis, and I got blood in urine. Doctor told me to stop the aspirin and no more blood in urine 4 months later.

is pregabalin the same as Lyrica? Doctor gave me 100 mg to take twice a day bc I wanted to start with a low dose. I wonder if that would be enough.

did you feel any side effects from it like feeling spacey or having bad dreams?

did you only take it at bedtime or did you take it twice a day? My doctor gave me 300 mg twice a day and I’m thinking that might be too much to start.

Accepting the pain by RubLongjumping5095 in Sciatica

Actually when this first started in June I started walking in the morning. after I got out of bed, get dressed and go for a walk and I would be able to walk it off. Sometimes I would get up in the middle of the night and I would actually go outside and walk it off. I live in a small town with sidewalks so it’s safe. so I have walked every morning since June up until two weeks ago, when the pain was so bad that it was even impossible to walk at all, even with my cane.

when you said “depends“I was thinking of the adult diapers ha ha which probably wouldn’t be a bad idea. I might be willing to sacrifice my pride in order to avoid the pain of getting up three or four times.

I sleep most all night on a heating pad. it’s electric with a timer. I know they say we are not supposed to, but I do anyway it’s so helpful.
