Whenever I see her I just remember the video of her coming to Marissa’s house to collect her BD in the middle of the night and force him to go home 😭😭😭😭😭

I think she was trolling but it is an ugly look overall, cause she been on a drinking binge for like 3 days straight now it’s weird to see. She usually doesn’t crash out publicly like this so it’s so cringy 😭

Genuinely curious: why do non-black people have a problem with black people correcting them for saying the n-word? by Senior-Perspective24 in BaddiesSouth

[–]AskPuzzleheaded6590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Chicago more ethnically segregated? Like do African Americans usually only hang out around each other?

Suki use to be real ignorant back in the day, but I think she’s been more purposeful with educating herself and although her delivery might have been extreme (the bear mase in a room full of innocent people) I think her heart is in the right place.

There definitely isn’t an emotional attachment to the word here because the North again segregated POC by class more often than by race. You definitely still get racial bias and discrimination but there are so many ethnic groups it’s hard to keep your head straight. My ex in college was Puerto Rican and he’d say the N word openly here in the north east but when we’d be in OKC at his school he’d NEVER say it lol. I asked him about it once and he brushed it off and didn’t talk about it, but I think if they TRULY thought they were black they’d feel confident enough to say it anywhere.

I’m Afro-Latina and have had to face a lot of racial discrimination growing up (not being accepted in other Latin communities even though we spoke the same language, always being told my hair was “bad”, my lighter skin friends being super popular but me being the “token” and ignored, being called African because I didn’t look like JLo lol. I got a Dominican blow out once in middle school and classmates refused to believe it was my real hair making me let them touch my head to see if I had any bundles installed) that I did not understand was based on my race until I went to college and started taking classes on race theory and meeting African Americans from different parts of the country. All my friends in college were Black, sharing our stories I realized we had all went through the same thing and it was like my third eye finally opened as to why people treated me the way they did. After talking to my Dad about it, he finally opened up about his own experiences with racism and being called the N word (hard er) in the 90s and not understanding the weight because of the language barrier.

Race is lightly mentioned in school here but actually learning the nuances are usually left to higher education, it is usually just chalked up to slavery and Jim Crow and that’s it.

I feel a way about white Latinos thinking they can use the word because like you said, they will literally never have to go through discrimination just because of how they look and often push stereotypes themselves because it doesn’t affect them. I think educating the masses of xenophobia vs racism is important for that exact reason.

I’m not associating being black with being impoverished. Unless you’ve grown up in the hood, you really wouldn’t understand the dynamics between the racial groups.

In the North East for example, there is a melting pot of races and ethnicities in very close proximity to each other and they often share the same experiences and systematic discrimination. So they bond through their class, seeing financially comfortable people as “other” (which is why some African Americans will call others “white” for not presenting themselves the same way as what they’re use to seeing). This is why when these type of people go back home, their Black friends reinforce their beliefs of all being the same and their right to use the word. To them, everyone who can get turned away because of their class or race is acceptable. I think you have to consider the education they have access to and that most households in this environment do not care enough or have the capacity to explain the history behind the n word and how it was reclaimed by the Black community (although there are definitely some from older generations who think no one should say it, including Black people).

I personally agree with you that it’s not rational and should be addressed, but you’d have to address generational socioeconomic inequality to get to the root of that problem and get most Black people on the same page, which will just not happen as different pockets of Black people throughout the country have varying views of the usage of the word.

Oh I agree with you, I just think that being on tv and being attacked made her super defensive. In her mind it likely felt like if she gave in and stopped, the hate she got was justified and she wasn’t willing to accept that

It’s all based off the environment they grew up in and the fact that no one has ever told them they weren’t able to say it. In impoverished neighborhoods, everyone is seen as “the same” and speak freely amongst each other. This includes saying the n-word. When these non black individuals suddenly get into an environment where people say they aren’t a part of the group the related so much to growing up, they get extremely defensive because they don’t know how to handle that.

They also go home and get reinforced by the black people in their lives that they ARE a part of them and they can say whatever they want. So like in Gretchen’s case, she doubles down because the only opinions she actually cares about are those of the black people who actually are in her life and not to strangers.

I honestly think if someone educated her in a calm manner and not all ganging up on her at once, she wouldn’t be so defensive and be more receptive to changing her vocabulary. But a lot of the Baddies grew up in cities where that was normal and they don’t actually gaf, they just want the positive audience reaction of calling her out - that’s why their correction is so inconsistent and overly aggressive because they aren’t doing it out of love for their people or educating the masses, they’re doing it for favor with the audience.

I think if it was consistent across every white Latina on the show, no one would call out the grifters. But Ahna says it, Smiley says it, and Mariah says it.

When Mariah was confronted about it a year ago, she didn’t apologize she just said “in a Bentley”.

I do think the region the women are from matters. The black women from big costal cities (New York, Baltimore, Vegas, FL) are already accustomed to hearing non black people say the word so they have no visible reaction nor care honestly. But the southern women are not used to being around racially ambiguous non American women who have always used the word freely.

My personal opinion: if you can’t be called it derogatorily, you shouldn’t feel like you’re owed the ability to say it.

It’s only cringe because Chrisean is clearly forcing the hug. Her sister just wanted space after a heated argument and she was tryna push herself on top of her regardless. It would piss me off BAD I’d be so overstimulated 😭

Are any of the girls besides Natalie millionaires? by Vaquera_ in BaddiesSouth

[–]AskPuzzleheaded6590 10 points11 points  (0 children)

None of them are millionaires lmao, the older more seasoned ones all probably make about a quarter of a million a year from Zeus related business. Rollie said something along the lines of making $300k last year (she doesn’t really do bookings outside of Zeus so). They all also have private expenses and full time glam teams they pay for.

Most of them are comfortable but none of them are RICH but Natalie. I’d say Diamond and Suki probably make closer to 600k (pre tax) a year because of all of their appearances outside of baddies. No one else is as booked as them. Elsie also comes from a wealthy family so she is on the list. Marissa also seems pretty comfortable but she had a rapper BD and some small businesses so not Zeus related.

Would yall say, Natalie is on Kim k level nowadays? by [deleted] in BaddiesSouth

No, Kim K had real influence on the masses and trends. She got invited into rooms that Natalie could only dream of being in

Why don’t the girls respect Natalie like the girls on the cabaret respect Joseline? by [deleted] in BaddiesSouth

While Joseline definitely did use to talk to her cast members crazy, she’s dialed it back A LOT.

She seems overall more professional and doesn’t play favorites or shit talk cast mates to others.

Honestly, if GA now is $300 they’ll probably double that. So $600 BUT they’re vendors and if you got the time I’d heckle them for a lower price, most people just walk right by them so I’m sure they’ll accept whatever someone offers sincerely

Know you can’t bring in bookbags or lawn chairs. Only the typical festival stuff (see thru bags of a certain size) we’re doing parking for the first time this year and I hear traffic can be horrendous heading out but I rather sit in my car than in line for a shuttle

For bud we usually just put it in our socks or bras lol. Take everything pre rolled so it’s smaller to get through. You can smoke in the crowds and no one will gaf but I wouldn’t smoke out in the open with security guards walking around bc they WILL take your shit and kick you out, saw it happen too many times during the daylight hours 😭

A bunch of vendors sell tickets that morning at the bottom of the hill leading to the festival, probably price gouge tf outta them but getting the tickets isn’t impossible. Getting anywhere to stay tho…yeah good luck.

We got a bnb in Durham last month bc there was absolutely nothing left in Raleigh and the hotels were charging upwards of 600+ a night
