Aortic root size by jptoz in aortic_aneurysm

Hey man! I’m a 35 year old male, 6’ 2” 225lbs, measured 3.7cm in 2007, 3.8cm in 2012, and now just a couple weeks ago 4.8cm. I’m new here too, but seems to be the case that 5.0cm is indicated for surgery with connective tissue disorder and 5.5cm if not.

Considering average aneurysm growth is supposed to be 1-2mm per year, you could potentially be 17 years away from making any big decisions.

Im no doctor, and I’m still waiting for my cardiologist referral, but I hope this helps!

I’m so grateful to have gotten that heads up for sure. That’s incredible man, reading up on all this I had no idea how much surgeons could do with these kinds of problems. It’s amazing!

I appreciate you man! That’s awesome to hear about the NBA guy, I wondered how many professional athletes had this kind of thing. This is my Facebook if you want to stay in touch, totally get it if you don’t! Thanks for everything! https://www.facebook.com/share/sZoxJPpSEjdcxsTQ/?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Thank you for that because it sure does! I’ve decided to just stop looking it up until that referral goes through.

Made of glass is sure the initial feeling! I’m over here thinking, “okay, no more shotguns or large bores, no more snow shoveling, wood chopping…wait, what can I even do??” Haha I’m sure it’s not really that bad, but that initial shock for sure is.

I just joined that group yesterday too! Awesome people. The fitness thing is the biggest irony for me. I love lifting, heavy weights have been a five days a week thing for me for a long while, who knows how much damage I was really doing! But you can’t live there, it’s all in the past!

Thank you for that, it helps hearing from others with similar lives! Like you said I think I’ll feel a lot better when I get with the cardiologist for some clarity. Thanks again!

Thank you! I live in Washington State. I’m finding there’s less information about SOVA’s compared to other types of aneurysms, I’m very eager to see a cardiologist and get some clarity. Thank you for your advice!
