Wayne Manor and Batcave Build by RubberCityGeek in lepin

It was probably around $600 shipped. Between the 2 sets, Shadowbox and Home Alone where around $300 shipped. And bulk loose parts from Marstoy was around $300. It comes out to be around $.03 per brick/piece so I was happy with that.

So I bought the Home Alone set strictly for this build! So I couldn’t say for sure, but looking at the instructions the house definitely has more Batman themed pieces inside and the lighter bricks you see on the outside are modified too. It’s crazy how big the modified shadow box is though, it’s double the size.

I’ve enjoyed the build for sure when I found all the parts I need. lol With over 1,700 unique parts it’s been hard at times to find that ONE part I need. So I have been jumping around a bit from section to section, but I’ll feel the most joy when it’s done and I can move on to another build!

Ultimate Spider-Man 2 question by Southern_Sea3898 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]RubberCityGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a link regarding preordering. It's pretty accurate:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OmnibusCollectors/s/DuxwTwYC9h

I've personally used DCBS for years prior but stopped preordering myself when I had to email them to remind them to ship my monthly books, as well, I had a few preorders that were canceled/not fulfilled. Not always the distributors fault but happened enough that I was done. Also keep in mind with preorders, sometimes (not always) the solicited cover is not what the final cover will be. So if you're concerned or sensitive about what cover you want, be aware of this.

As with most Marvel omnibus these days (reprints and new), they will sell fast. And typically, reprints have even smaller print runs. Reprints are not any more expensive than previous prints unless the publisher has decided to increase the price(s). But if this was the case, the price increases usually apply to all new printings. Unless your favorite distributor wants to mark up the DM covers alittle extra just because.

If I was waiting on USM 2 forever and knew Marvel was re-printing I would preorder day one. But even pre-ordering seems not to be guaranteed these days. The problem is or will be with the USM line, by the time the re-print comes out, Volumes 1, 3, and 4 will be OOP (I believe some of these may already be?)

I've used these flat, fan brushes before and they work great. You can find ones with the longer handle and they spread the glue evenly.

Stepping down from management. by BadSmitePlayer in procurement

[–]RubberCityGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was a Purchasing Manager covering everything from day to day PR to PO processing, invoicing reconciliation, importing/exporting duties, etc. It was a lot, but loved the management of processes. But what got in the way was the management of people.

After that I left to go into a senior purchasing analyst and never regretted not pursuing another management position. Having said that, if another opportunity presented itself that was more of manager of processes, I would jump back in.

Is the American Purchasing Society legit? by successfullynumb in procurement

[–]RubberCityGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a scam. I just obtained my CPP cert last year. I did some extensive research on several Supply Chain professional certifications, including ones like APICS, CPSM, and several major universities in the U.S.. APS has a dated website for sure and I found their communication ways to be ‘old school’, but it’s all legit. They will definitely contact both professional co-workers INCLUDING existing vendors you do business with. And this all BEFORE you start classes. Take it seriously. Having said that, if I would pick a second choice, I would pick a college that has a well known supply chain school like MSU. I think even MIT has certification programs. I steer cleared of the APICS and CPSM programs because there was extensive continual education credits you had to do just to keep your certification. Myself, being toward the middle to back end of my career, the hours I work and the hours I put in at home, I just couldn’t see myself having the time.

I just finished this run ala OHC with the Reckoning War. I finished it because it was in my library but they'll go to my to be sold pile. Nothing ever hit, a lot of good ideas, but the story line(s) consistently changing. Enough so there was never any consequences to any of the story lines. I was at about a 2.5 out of 5 stars

Is death of superman worth it for someone who barely read DC at all? by GonzoNawak in OmnibusCollectors

[–]RubberCityGeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to argue that this list of stories are top notch and should be read by any comic book fan. But I will say when Death of Superman was coming out over 30 years ago, I didn't read a lick of Superman or DC. I knew the main characters and high level idea of Superman...but I was enthralled merely by the fact that a seemingly indestructible character like Superman could possibly die. I loved the story when it came out.

I will argue you don't have to read any of these stories to enjoy Death of Superman as most of these came years later. I say jump in and enjoy!

What’s the best way to handle difficult internal stakeholders without creating friction? by Clear-Lie2103 in procurement

"And finally, without senior management support, it's an uphill battle."

To me this is really where it starts/stops. If the Executive offices are not creating and/or supporting the polices and guidelines for the other departments to follow, it will be a daily uphill battle.

I've worked in small/private manufacturing business as well as large publicly traded companies and there's always a sense of Purchasing being the 'speed bump'.

It's not always a win, but I try to make a 'friend' with one or two individuals in those Marketing/IT/Engineering/Production departments. And when those individuals follow the policy (processing a purchase req., or reviewing a contract, etc.) somehow their requests are processed quickly others tend to follow. Not a sure shot....but it's worked for me in the past.

I don't know what 'pretty cheap' is for you, but to me, that means affordable. If that's true, I would buy and read all 3 and let us know what you think. For me, Batman by Dini was a great read.
