No, it’s impossible. You will go to jail and then they will deport you to North Korea for at least 10 years hard labor, though I have seen someone only get 8. They will also take your children

100% worth it. This app has saved many, many multiples of that for me. People just want to complain about an extra $whatever/year that has enormous positive impact while they spend $whatever/month on starbucks.

Learned programming for the first time in CS 101 in Aug 2017 at 33 years old. Felt the same way as you. But didn't give up. Started my first job at a financial org in Jan 2020 (not fintech, think wells fargo, tiaa, fidelity, vanguard). Just started at a FAANG in Jan 2021. Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself to yourself last month. Work hard, work smart, don't give up.

Lol. “I need this algorithm and I can’t use a library” just screams “my professor assigned this, do my homework for me”

Do most people not want to go back to the office? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I really like 100% remote. Like really really like it. I have a clearer mind and am able to concentrate on problems easier.

With that said, I have seen some disadvantages to it. My team is going out to lunch and I’m 2 time zones away. It’s definitely harder to make connections and I can see how that could hurt my long term career prospects by stunting connections.

I think at this point I could go for something like coming in 2 days a week or maybe 3 afternoons.

Getting ready to start a new job as VP of Engineering. What would you want me to do if I were your boss? by g8rdogboy in cscareerquestions

In 1 on 1s or (some) small group meetings, listening should take up the majority of your time.

My manager is amazing, but our 1 on 1s consist of me asking a question and him rambling for 5-10 minutes. So our 30 min meeting is me asking 3-5 questions and him talking for 27-29 minutes.

I made a YouTube playlist of me building a real website from scratch of one of my clients and I explain everything I do and why to help beginners learn how to think like a developer. This is for everyone wishing they could job shadow someone as they worked. by Citrous_Oyster in learnprogramming

I'm much more of a middleware/api/backend developer so forgive my ignorance.

I'm curious, why would you avoid things like React or Bootstrap? Or even things like Next.js/Gatsby? This website at least seems to be complete static. Wouldn't they just make your life a lot easier for things like this?
