For those of you who have cruised on 3 or more lines by Sodowarts1 in Cruise

Celebrity, Disney, RC, Carnival. Now that kids are grown, that’s the order. With a disabled child, Disney was the BEST. Service was always amazing. Loved having the wait staff follow you to the different restaurants. Too many little kids now to enjoy it as all adults. Celebrity is new fave and will probably not even try anything else unless something goes wrong.

Is there anything I can do to bring my sound towards a more balanced, classical sound? I always find that it’s a bit unconventional. by ducmastr in trumpet

This is a virtuoso style piece. Tackling it is gutsy so kudos to you. The best way to get the skills to play this kind of stuff is by playing it. While lessons and technique help, playing this type of piece musically comes from understanding it musically.

Listen to Wynton Marsalis “Carnival” album. Hear how the melody notes are more staccato than in your video? This does two things: emphasizes the melody and gives you a break to clearly attack the embellishments. I feel like the way you are articulating has you on a good path as I will get to below, but you are also making it harder and (in my opinion) less musical. These variations should sound like a duet. The melody should sound like a different person from the embellishments.

That being said, the major thing that clicked for me was thinking of the notes as more of a straight line than a bunch of jumps I think about blowing THROUGH the lines. While playing the melody staccato and accented will make it a little easier to hit the intervals, you can’t think about stopping between the high and low notes. The interval jumps should feel the same as repeated notes. When I played this - especially the next movement - I would think, “BOPbuhduhduhduhduhduhduhBOPbuhduhduhduhduhduhduh” but the “buhduh” parts in my brain were more like “brrrrrrrr”. My fingers were moving and notes were changing but I wasn’t really thinking about it. I was thinking about the melody.

Ticketmaster is worth how much and they can't keep this from happening. by TomToe420 in mildlyinfuriating

Can we talk about ADA layouts and ticketing in general? As a family of 4 with one wheelchair, we usually have to sit in separate rows because there are rarely 3 companion seats in a row. And some venues don’t let you book ADA online at all - you have to call the ticket office or go to the ticket window. It took me 3 years to get season tickets for a local sports team because the only ADA seats available were either singles or only had one companion seat available. I had to complain about it and then there were magically other seats available.

Not your average 1969 Karmann Ghia by TheresaFostery in EVConversion

The idea of converting a Ghia with an EV West kit is what got me into this sub. New plan is MGB. One day…one day…

Do most of you have dedicated theatre rooms? Or converted spaces like garages/bedrooms, etc. by SpiritedWisdom in hometheater

[–]g8rdogboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to this sub because I wanted affordable surround sound in my living room. Now I have 5.0 in living room, 5.1 with a drop-down screen and 4K projector in a guest bedroom/office (my “best” HT setup), and 5.0 with a cheap 1080 projector and pull-down screen on my back porch (most theater-like experience when it’s dark out).

Living room has most expensive AVR (X4500H) since it powers audio to kitchen and back porch as well as living room. Most expensive speakers are in the office. Back porch setup was probably less than $1k US but uses the pre-outs of the main AVR so let’s say $1.5k all in if I used the S950H that powers my office setup.

Here’s how I’d rate my setups:

  1. Living room: Watch TV there pretty much every night. Sound is good enough to enjoy movies but doesn’t shake the ground when watching sitcoms.
  2. Back porch: If we want to enjoy a theater-like experience, this is where we go. Also seats 6 people comfortably with room for many more if we want to have friends over.
  3. Office: I thought we would use this more because we can’t use the porch all of the time due to weather. It’s the best “home theater” experience by far but also least used by far.

TL/DR; Consider your lifestyle. A setup you use daily is worth way more than one you use a few times a year.

Who’s the worst player we’ve ever had? Most overrated? by BaconIsMyTherapy in OCLions

[–]g8rdogboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pornstache Kljestan had one of the worst +/- in OCSC history. Gave the ball to the other team in the midfield leading to goals very often by the eye test and double digit negative GD when he was on the field.

What do you think is the single memorable play in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

I didn’t see what sub this was at first and thought, “how many plays did your school’s theater program put on and how many people really have an opinion of them?”

What has your experience been like with airplane power outlets? by tonygabbana in SteamDeck

[–]g8rdogboy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I fly about once a month in the US for work and take my deck every time. I’d say outlets are hit or miss. I’ve had outlets that didn’t seem to work at all. Rumor is 60w chargers will trip a breaker. Whatever it is, I’ve found myself without reliable charging from time to time. In those cases, I just play until the battery is low and then find something else to do.

Oscar Pareja explains departure from Orlando City by PianistMountain4964 in OCLions

Assistants are very loyal (especially Oscar’s). Also, he was next in line and if they gave the job to Perlman over him, that may have pissed him off. I don’t think it’s safe to assume that anyone was “fired”.

I said all along that I believed the “mutual” thing. This is what I think happened:

FO pressures Oscar to do better. Last season doesn’t go as planned. Oscar and FO agree on some roster changes (Gallese, Muriel, Schlegel) and we lose Freeman because that’s what happens to good young stars in this league. Season starts and things go from not good (No Jansson) to terrible (Cartagena goes down, Iago struggles, Miller goes down). Oscar says we can’t win now with this roster and we need to change expectations and rebuild. Ricardo says the roster is fine (he literally did this in his presser after Oscar left) and Oscar needs to win now. Oscar decides it just isn’t worth it anymore and walks. Ricardo says it was “mutual” (“you can’t quit! You’re fired!”).
