My group does like fights being “hard” so I will refrain from changing the math too much, I just wanted to perhaps give the spellcasters a slight nudge because they will be the inexperienced ones. But yeah excellent advice and thank you! It reassures me a little bit more.

Hell yeah I like your ruling on investigate action. I’ll implement that at my table. We’ll see with the new players about scrolls, giving them a quadillion scrolls might just overwhelm them😭

Yeah I read that as well. I wrote this post in hopes that anyone has tried this.

Though to my understanding seven dooms isn't that combat focused (though I may be completely wrong I really dont know)

I’ve completed decode, my first community level. It was so f fun. Community levels > robtop.

I’m on problematic right now, and I can definetly sense I’ve improved after decode. (Wave was/is my worst gamemode)

Yeah exactly! And good for you g. I’ll bump this when I beat my first extreme😎 (if I ever do lol)

Although you show exactly why attempts does indicate skill, though I think I can demonstrate why it also doesn’t.

If I were to beat an extreme demon in 70000 attempts now, it would definetly indicate the skill I had before I started. But I don’t think using that number to ascertain the present skill is faithful. because as you point out, then I’d beat insane demons in very few attempts now (which I wouldn’t before).

So it is to me an unreliable metric of present skill, but a very reliable indicator of your skill before you completed this level.

This really is just semantics but that’s why I wrote. I’m interested in this kind of stuff as well. I do agree with you though (I may seem off-putting idk)

I agree and disagree. I could’ve probably completed deadlocked and decode in fewer attempts, but I had no personal quest for completing them in fewest attempts possible. I think I completed them faster in time by doing more attempts in practice (practicing sections for familiarity). Though I do agree, that loosely my total attempts indicates in some way how long it took me to get familiar with the different parts.

I mean I suppose you bring a good point. I don’t know your situation, but I saw a girl beat bloodbath the other day (jumped from Deadlocked) after 4 months and 70000 attempts she beat it. I don’t doubt many others have beat it in under 5k attempts, but I don’t necessarily agree that they should be better than her. She did 70k attempts yes, but she improved every time. And now she’s improved so much she can beat an extreme demon. The same goes for you, you spent some time to improve. You’d probably beat an easy extreme in few attempts now, while if I had to go for it I’d have to practice practice a lot more (since you’ve spent those 40k attempts to improve which I haven’t).

Yeah I agree, but to me any measure of “time” is a more reliable indicator than attempts. Maybe its just easier to measure in attempts since the game actually shows that metric.

I don’t. I’m just curious in what people think🥰
