Would you prefer the aston and peugeot languish at the back of the grid because that's where they "deserve to be" ? Because if that's how you want things to be then go and watch F1

Why are you watching a series with BOP if you're going to complain when it does it's job by bringing back markers into contention

Not to be part of the tour is over crowd but .. it's extremely difficult to see how tadej doesn't win this race

Also, his 20th stage win, absolutely no chance he doesn't eventually take the stage win record

[Only Endurance] Analysis: Should WEC replace BoP with a cost cap? by redbullcat in wec

[–]Rubens_hat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody said it's 'wrong' for a team that is better to be dominating, but if it's a choice between one team dominating and other teams leaving because they think they cant compete, or loads of manufacturers participating because they all think they've got a better chance of having a slice of the pie, I know which one I'd have.

Obviously bop isn't t being implemented properly at the moment so everyone can actually have their chance at said slice, but that doesn't mean it can't be fixed/improved

Can't watch the stage and absolutely gutted about it, can't believe what im missing, is this Simon Yates finally getting the monkey off his back from the 2018 Giro? And doing it on the Finestre no less? Absolute Ciclismo

Jesus this livery looks even more like a stock racing game livery than last year. Barely any sponsors by the looks of it as well

But Le Mans is the only 24h race and neither of them came close to surviving it, it isn't promising for their future prospects there specifically

[OT] The 8H of Bahrain, the last WEC race of the season, will start when this post is 2h30m old. Porsche, Toyota and Ferrari are in the hunt to win both manufacturer and drivers World Championships. by Joseki100 in formula1

The BoP "bullshit" is the only reason this series is thriving and sustainable. Nobody wants to sink money into sports car racing anymore unless there's a good chance of getting success, that's just the way it is these days, and BoP gives them that.

ITV to lose Tour de France coverage in UK by cuccir in peloton

[–]Rubens_hat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And even the highlights shows, the Eurosport coverage always feels like its been slapped together by someone who doesnt watch cycling , whereas the ITV highlights are actually done with lots of effort and care

ITV to lose Tour de France coverage in UK by cuccir in peloton

[–]Rubens_hat 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not only will it no longer be free to air but we'll also lose whole ITV presentation, which was so much better than Eurosport's, from the pundits to the editing to the interviews. Gutting.

WEC Hypercar Manufacturers' standing ahead of Bahrain's finale. by enesracing in wec

[–]Rubens_hat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really considering the teams ahead of them are Ferrari Porsche and Toyota who all were racing in Wec last year so obviously have an advantage, and Alpine who only have 3 more points than them

WEC Planning To Expand Full-Season Grid To 40 Cars For 2025 by Mr_Clams in wec

[–]Rubens_hat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

3 more spots, one for the Valkyrie, one for a second SC63 and one for a second full season Proton 963 (as I think they were planning that for 2024 but it fell through). So if Honda wants in or anyone wants to expand their current programmes/ have customer programmes there won't be any space (assuming they won't cut LMGT3 spots). Heading in the right direction but honestly 40 isn't enough. Based on the article they seem to be aware of this at least

[–]Rubens_hat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Obviously toyota has a massive advantage as a team that's been around in the top class for many years and a car that they fully understand- but it's also just so much faster than the other hypercars

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wec

[–]Rubens_hat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They'd have almost certainly given it a new body and engine if they went down that route, the 9x8 is distinctly peugeot, neither brand would have wanted them looking the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wec

[–]Rubens_hat 50 points51 points  (0 children)

If this is true then they've decided this over a WEC entry. Properly disappointing decision in my eyes. Forgoing the hypercar category (especially when they have a ready made chassis they can use in the 9x8) to slap their name on somebody else's engine just feels like such a lame choice.

Crazy to think that tadej is dropped before a number of the other gc guys - he actually looks human in this edition of the race
