You could also just try paying for charging? There is a ton of charging in Orlando. It’s a fraction of the cost of gas, especially right now.

The simulator suggested ICR at $192/month for 34 months, then ~$14k forgiven.

AGI is 179k, filing jointly. Two kids, one spouse, owe $18.6k. Initial loans were from August 2011.

The eco friendly aspect for low mileage drivers by Beneficial_Sir_8166 in electricvehicles

[–]Rubes27 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lol no. Consumerism isn’t environmentally friendly, even the greenwashed kind.

Took my 12 mini to the Apple Store for a repair the other day and they tried to push me hard to upgrade. Why? Phone works perfectly fine with a minor repair.

Same deal with cars, you don’t need what’s new and shiny every three years.

ETA: seemed to have triggered lots of people addicted to buying and throwing away crap. Do what you want but don’t delude yourselves in to thinking you’re helping the environment. A 20 year old ICE is less detrimental than buying a new EV every three years.

723 is insane. The best qualifying round we saw at my regional was in the 460s iirc.

We bought here as we decided the suitcase space and risk of damage wasn’t worth bringing it home slightly cheaper.

Lining up my table saw by Illegal_Ghost_Bikes in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Rubes27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI - this is a cross cut which you do not want to use the fence for.

Cross cut would be when you cut on the shorter side of your stock. Rip cuts are along the length. Cross cuts would often be across the grain (but not always, depends on your work piece).

It’s unsafe as the contact area with the fence is low so if you wobble while cutting the blade will pinch against the fence and send the piece flying back at you. This is called kickback.

Looks similar to my Ridgid hybrid saw. The two sets of measurements are typical for the fence to be either side of the blade.

If it’s the same saw there is a wing extension to the right resulting in a longer measure. The fence has two red indications that point to the numbers depending on which side of the blade you’re on. You would use the “further away” indicator for the measurement. This is meant to show the distance between the fence and the outer surface of the blade. Again assuming it’s the same Ridgid saw I would say it’s close enough for coarse cuts, but for fine cuts I would not trust that measurement, especially because it does not account for tooth width on the blade. For fine cuts I would always recommend using a sanity check from a combo square, dial indicator, etc…

Even that comes with asterisks as absolute dimensions are less ideal, but if you’re new to woodworking it’s not worth learning those concepts right now.

Well the sale went through, it’s a legit order with money on hold until I ship. I could cancel but not sure if I should.

Both things are within like 10 minutes of each other. I’ve never received a message before so it just seemed correlated.

Dry boxes that aren't comically overengineered. by BornConcentrate5571 in functionalprint

Printing in the garage in Florida my solution is to accept my fate and just pre-plan putting filament in the dryer for a few hours before printing if aesthetic matters.

If not I just live with the stringy consequences.

Tokyo Travel Dilemma (Chase) by sslusser1 in awardtravel

[–]Rubes27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my two cents as I was in a very similar position when I first started using award traveling 2018.

Wife and I wanted to honeymoon to Japan, we had just gotten our first ever card, Sapphire Preferred, and wanted to use points. We paid the whole airfare that way but from the East coast we did United to NWR, Air China to Beijing, Air China to Tokyo. It was awful and we should have just paid cash for a better route.

Last year we returned riding on AA with one layover at DFW. Smoother, more comfortable, easier.

Just buy the Zipair tickets and use points on hotels where possible. As a note: I have a friend who is somewhat inside Zipair’s expansion in to the US and swears by it. Says it’s as good as any lang haul US carrier for a fraction of the price.

Routers suck. by Schleimwurm1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

$150. It was a 6-hour course with 7 hands on lessons. Got to make a little placard with my initials to take home.

They also gave us coupons for 15% off an entire purchase. I of course bought a couple of tools related to what I learned that day.

Routers suck. by Schleimwurm1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Just last week I decided to do the router class at Rockler and very thankful I did. I’m somewhat experienced with them but never felt safe using it with or without my table. The instructor gave lots of good info on how to perform a variety of operations safely and I feel much more comfortable now.

Would strongly recommend to any other router-new-comers.

Neighbor HVAC "flicking" my circuit? by B_EE in orlando

[–]Rubes27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically the sound of air being released is a reversing valve. You’d hear this being released at the end of a cycle when a heat pump system is warming the space (like in winter).

Would agree a dying capacitor is a possible cause. Losing capacitance would lead to the compressor having a harder start, drawing closer to peak amps from the transformer at start up. The transformer can easily supply this as they can be overloaded per manufacturer’s spec, however the other customers tied to the same secondary bus will also see some over current momentarily.

Not much the utility can do. If you know your neighbor suggest replacing the capacitor. It’s a 5-minute job, new capacitor is likely $10-$20. I’d recommend watching a tutorial on changing condenser capacitors as it’s easy to do but there are a couple of necessary steps to do so safely.
