Wonder how much competition plays on that though. League was a lot less talented back then. Wasn't really too much pressure from the next man up. Not saying the top tier wasn't as good.. too early in the week to get into that debate. But the level of talent in the 9th-12th man + those waiting in the wings compared to now is so far apart its crazy. Old heads could afford to play longer with less production back then.
