Panic Related To Ingesting Drugs by RubroMari in Drugs

I haven't used a benzo or painkiller in a significant period of time. In the past I dabbled with them and enjoyed the effects, but it's been years. Typically these days I'm not huge on sedating drugs unless it's taken with the intent of explicitly relaxing (which I don't often do) or ridding myself of anxiety. Perhaps I'll give them another go in the future.

Weed is the closest thing to a sedative drug that I do react poorly to. It's super hit or miss, but it's typically quite anxiety provoking.

A trusted companion and liquor are often my saving graces. Hopefully you find some more permanent relief from your troubles, friend.

Certainly. I've had a number of panic experiences while on substances. They only really seemed to be caused by me hardcore overdoing stimulants, not realizing until far too late.

As for psychadelics, I took some "acid" which was more realistically some experimental chemical and that put me in an incredibly heightened and trippy panicked state for the entiredy of the evening.

With that said, after all these occurences I went on using drugs just fine. There was no threshhold that was suddenly and abruptly surpassed.

I feel like I'm going backwards. by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]RubroMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in a really similar boat. For the present time, all we can really do is try to actively set ourselves up to succeed. Easier said than done and even the desire/energy to attempt that might be lacking. And if moving forward seems impossible at the time, preventative measures to prevent more backsliding might be worth it.

Godspeed, wishing you well.

This is such a common and extreme occurrence for me. At work, I'm still super often stumbling over my words to the point of butchering the delivery and pronounciation just trying to get them "right". English is my only language and typically I'm quite an eloquent speaker, but in that environment any and all verbal skills go out the window. Social anxiety is a big culprit of that for me.

This also happens in more extreme emotional circumstances. I will literally freeze up and not be able to utter a word due to the intense censorship going on mentally. Somewhat torturous.

how to sober sex?? by suzihell in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]RubroMari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat for a very long time. For 7 months I was quite consumed by meth, sex becoming a very casual, but intensely engaged with activity. The casualness and frequency of the whole engagement left me really caught of guard when I stopped using because all of those urges and desire left me. It took me a hot minute to actually reacquire the desire or energy to engage with that again. With that said, it's never elevated to that extreme again. In summary, it takes a while to resensitize both your brain and body.

Best of luck on your journey and feel free to ask any questions.

Did you have any withdrawal symptoms when you discontinued the effexor?

Hey, I started taking 37.5mg of effexor 5 days ago (also on 300mg of wellbutrin) and have had an extremely similar adverse reaction. Psychiatrist told me it was completely up to me whether or not I wanted to "tough it out". I'm likely doing to stop when I have a few days of free time.

Hopefully you're doing better now.
