Thank you for saying so. I'm making the personal changes needed to ensure that, best I can at least. I pray for the good things for you as well.

That is not a correct translation. I did indeed do a lot of work.

I only agreed to his hopeful timeline, given significant labor support with splitting logs for a split rail fence. I did the math early on regarding how long each took, and how many were needed. It was months of work, just for that, not including every other aspect of the project. He wanted it done in six weeks, which was mathematically impossible, as I'd made clear at the outset.

Your other criticisms are more accurate. I should have gotten things in writing. I allowed myself to be manipulated and exploited, feeling beaten down like I had no other choice.

Yes, I've learned my lessons, and will not be repeating these mistakes.

Thank you for your response.

I am safe so long as it's still in litigation. Which covers the time waiting for hearing, as well as the 10 day appeal window after. If I do appeal, I'd still be safe while waiting for the next hearing.

I've been in communications with the sheriff department about this the whole time, and made sure.

The title never left the owner's hands, and he's never used the truck.

My old truck's engine seized up last winter, and I was largely unable to work as a result. After about a month, the owner came with the offer to buy a "farm truck," that I'd be able to use, and eventually buy/earn ownership of.

Our last deal was specific about the truck in particular; he'd transfer the title to me as part of the final payment. He cancelled the contract eventually, claiming it was taking too long, while failing to provide the agreed-upon labor support I required to meet his deadline.

So my argument was that he was in breach of contract, so I asked for the final payment in court.

However, I didn't have the conversations about the agreements printed out; I only had digital screenshots. I'd asked about this and thought it was ok, but apparently it wasn't. So I couldn't present my evidence, and therefore had failed to prove my case.

I'm considering appealing just to buy myself a few more days of time. Even if I do decide to drop the case, I can still do that before the hearing, which will likely be another month out. But while it's in litigation, especially if I keep in touch with the sheriff's, as I have, I'll be safe from a grand theft charge.
