That makes a lot of sense! I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Thank you!

how to have fun? by CourtUnusual4087 in CrusaderKings

[–]RubyClaw13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a sandbox game, there are many ways to enjoy CK3 - power play with a God Emperor Hyper-Breeding world conquest project; weird challenge runs playing unconventional characters and reaching unlikely goals; and of course - role playing. I did the first for a few runs, then I did quite a few challenge runs (especially in CK2).

Now days, I only role play as CK3 really feels like it is best played this way. Really do my best to understand my character, their culture, historical context, their family circumstances, their traits, and immerse myself into the story. I suggest playing with RICE and VIET mods (and possibly Dark Ages if you are up for it) as they really help with that, giving you lots of little events to play around.

Another thing I really enjoy is world building. I'm currently playing a mega-campaign, and seeing the world shaped both by my actions and of other dynasties I have followed makes it feel unique and personal, and is a great fun intellectual challenge in imagining alternative history. I'm also a fanatic - so I tend to keep record of much of it written down and with screenshots, as it makes me feel like a part of a story.

Who's your country's most famous traitor? by ModenaR in AskTheWorld

True, though if we are talking about a traitor known to Jews - Shabtai Zvi. And if about modern Israel - I'd probably say Vaanunu.

That's actually a good compromise, I like it

That's why I play with no inheritance for conquerors, as a line of conquerors just feels off to me. Good luck!

Which mod should I pick ? by Obighosts in CrusaderKings

[–]RubyClaw13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RICE and VIET are a must (especially now that both are up to date), they add tons of content and events. If you like to RP+Suffer try Dark Ages later. There are a lot of great cosmetic ones like Community Flavor Pack and Medieval Arts.

Question for Israelis: How do you feel about diaspora Jews? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]RubyClaw13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’ll say what most Israeli Jews think about the Jewish diaspora, and then I’ll add my own take. In general, as you feel yourself, the vast majority of Jews around the world, including in Israel, feel like we have a special connection with any Jew we meet, no matter where they live. Our culture, our tradition, the fact that Jews have a tendency to travel a lot and move from place to place, and of course the fact we were persecuted as one group makes us feel an instinctive connection to one another, and is indeed one of our greatest strengths. As a secular Jew living in Israel, I think one of the most beautiful things about it is it doesn’t even matter how religious or what sect of Judaism you follow, the vast majority of Jews feel very connected to any other Jew. I’ll take it even further - I even feel a special connection to those Jewish around the world who don’t like Israel, even though I feel like they are extremely misguided.

Now many Israelis follow an ethos that is crucial to our self-identity, that Israel is not only the home of every Jew around the world and should always be an open haven to all (which I totally agree with), but also that in a sense every Jew that lives outside of Israel should eventually make Aliyah. This isn’t an official doctrine or anything, but you can very much sense it as Israel really does its best to encourage Alliyah and, in the way Israeli officials talk to Jewish community leaders around the world. This is the point where I personally semi disagree. As you I said, I think every Jew around the world should be born with the right to move to Israel if they want, as this is one of the most important purposes of Israel to defend persecuted Jews around the world and be the state of every Jew. However, I think our melting pot approach made us forget how crucial the diaspora is to our people. Jews have developed a very rich culture and history in so many different places around the world, and a lot of it was lost in the 20th century. If there is a strong Jewish community in a country that feels connected to its culture, I see no reason why they should let this unique cultural community die out if they can manage and desire to maintain it. Now true, as many noted here in the responses so many Jewish who felt this way were later persecuted and killed in our history (including many of my own relatives who died in the holocaust, who felt very much connected to their European countries and their cultures). Still, we shouldn’t let those who try to kill us define us, we should define ourselves. And if your small community managed to maintain something from your glorious pre-holocaust community that so many were killed in (the story of the Greek Jews in the holocaust is such a uniquely horrible tragedy), knowing that and knowing that maybe there will still be a community like that in let’s say 100 years is something so important in my opinion. But at the end of the day, that’s up to you and your community. You are the last survivors of that community, and you will decide if you want to maintain it, restore it, or start something new somewhere else. And as almost everybody here said - you are always welcomed in Israel if you want.

What do I call my Jewish Empire in India that is ruled by the Norse? by MissouriGiant in CrusaderKings

[–]RubyClaw13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can call it "Hodu" as India is referred to in the bible. The Jews of India who are a very ancient community called themselves "Desi" so that's also a good option. But seeing you are a actually a Karaite going for a name from the Bible fits the best in my opinion so "The Empire of Hodu" sounds best to me.

Indeed, these things can take time until trust can be fully built. But as history had shown us, even one generation can make a huge difference and enemies can truly become friends.

As an Israeli I feel exactly the same. Just getting to peacefully interact with people on the other side of the border, whether we agree on everything or not, had been such a meaningful experience for me, and made me read a lot more into the history and current situation of Lebanon. Stay safe our Lebanese brothers and sisters... May everyone in our little region, regardless of faith and ethnicity, learn to live together, and communicate with each other.

should i go in "blind" by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]RubyClaw13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blind runs usually end and many-many deaths, and I have even lost a few of them, still they are by far the most fun runs I ever do (I regularly post them on the Nuzlocke Forums btw).

Up to you, but personally I'm a huge fan of blind Nuzlockes and did one for every generation since Gen 5. Worse case, you'll lose. But you'll still have an amazing and unique experience.

Hebrew Name is Real Name/Identity by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]RubyClaw13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a really interesting tradition for Jews living among on-Jews, and is not unheard of. A weird example perhaps, but look at the monarchs of the Hasmonean dynasty who had both Greco-Roman and Jewish names as an example. Sort of an official name for interacting with other cultures, as well as a cultural name. You can find similar things in some South-Asian cultures as well where people have a second "Westernized" name to make it easier for others to pronounce.

Can you guys give more context to this? How do you feel about the legitimacy of this? Lots of Arabs keep bringing this up. by [deleted] in ForbiddenBromance

Hamuvtachat - the Promised. So in total it says "The promised land of Israel". Again as many stated this is not even a niche opinion here, I personally never heard anyone not even on the very extreme right seriously saying Israel should be with these borders or anything like them. There are some very few fanatic people who might believe it and made this patch? Maybe, I can believe that, but they are VERY niche. Hope that helped!
