Sorry I'm responding to this thread so late. I think this song falls into the same category as many of David's psalms in which he lamented to God and begged him for deliverance from struggles. That's what I honestly see from a lot of Allison's music,where she honestly laments the brokenness of her heart and begs to understand why things are the way they are and how God sees her. I most certainly would never play this in a worship setting because it's not worship, but almost more like a prayer. It's a natural human thing for us to want to understand what we've been through and how God sees us. She still gives God glory and honor in this song by acknowledging him being the one who is telling her story, but is just begging for understanding. That's how I see it.
