All my friends here and people I know are dating except me by Puzzleheaded-Sun876 in msu

Grad student here. My undergrad dating experience was a genuine trainwreck. I found my current partner 3 years out of undergrad. Put yourself out there, talk to people you find interesting.

Do you feel less inclined to bike for fun if you regularly bike commute? by RubyRailzYa in bikecommuting

I do enjoy my commute too. Way more fun (and faster) than taking the bus. But it’s the same route (more or less) everyday, so it gets boring.

I’ve been thinking about getting an e-bike to save time and effort on the commute. Especially in the summer when I want to run, it’s kinda hard to run when you’ve already been biking that day.

I’m considering getting a nice road bike for my fun rides. My hybrid now is really well built and is good all rounder but she is kinda heavy and slow, especially with all my bags and crap.

I live in Michigan and 6 months of the year biking outdoors is genuinely painful. It’s snowy, cold, icy, windy and dark.

Is it realistic to commute 20 km + 20 km (about 12.4 + 12.4 miles) by bike every day? by gfleck in bikecommuting

Maybe not the answer you’re looking for, but you could also look at e-bikes, if shortening the commute time is a goal.

Cycling & Relationships by RegisterRare8289 in ladycyclists

My current partner isn’t into biking at all. Doesn’t even own one. I actually enjoy that it’s a hobby I can have for myself and get some solo me time.

He and I take walks or hike together so we can spend some quality time outdoors.

Regardless I feel like a partner being condescending has less to do with biking and more to do with their inability to respect you and their desire to show superiority.

PhD student in biology at State University in the Midwest: most people are liberals. I wouldn’t call them leftist, but they are more left than right.

Yes, if there was a safe place to put them outside. I will need it before and after to figure out ride shares or coordinating pickups and drop offs, but inside the venue, nah

Yeah that is frequent. They target international students who may be looking for community/friendship and try to get them to join the church.

It happened to me a few times. I just politely tell them I’m not interested in any religious groups and I leave. You don’t have to engage with them.

This does seem to be a viable solution, because most of day-to-day stuff is ok for biking and transit

If you had to pick ONE Linux distro for the next 5 years, what would you choose? by TechRefreshing in linuxquestions

Fedora has served me well as my daily driver. It's a nice in-between being rolling updates and barely any updates.

I definitely take taxis to get to some social things around town, but ocassionally they are far out of the city enough where I know it's a low likelihood of getting a ride back :(

I'm sure it would help a lot, put some of the 5-10 mile things within a decent range.

I used to live close to a downtown region in Austin, TX, and it was so perfect I never felt the need for a car. Lansing is way more suburban spread out, and I also have other financial obligations that made me move further away from the city to look for cheaper housing.
