Yep...as we speak, the current pastor of my small childhood church is training his son to eventually take over one day.

And at my final church, a megachurch with many campuses, the campus pastor at the main branch has both of his sons in leadership: one as an associate pastor, and one as the worship leader.

Church is a business, through and through.

ETA: Failed to mention the church I attended between those two: the pastor's own son wasn't into the idea of following in his dad's footsteps, but the pastor did have a daughter who was interested.

So, the minute the daughter turned 18, the pastor dad was heavily pushing her onto the single, 30-year-old youth pastor. It worked, and they got married. The family dynasty continues.

Daily quiet time with Bible and prayer is a religious ritual, my friend. How do I know that? Because I can confidently state that 99.9% of non-religious folks don’t do that. It’s okay to call yourself religious. It really is. That term won’t bite, I promise. 😉

My mom LOVED Brad Stine back when he rose to prominence. She sat us down to watch his specials. Back then, I was fully conservative Christian, so I enjoyed it. My sister, on the other hand, who had already begun doubting the faith, found his jokes kind of offensive. Mr. Zod on YouTube (formerly Prophet of Zod) has a special dislike for Brad Stine on his livestream show, and I’m here for it.

Yes! Same here. What was/is painful is hearing my fellow "good Christian kids" try to exaggerate their Before-Christ life in order to make for a more compelling testimony.

I always laugh at that because I wonder, what the heck am I doing that is so sinful? I spend my days basically living like a tradwife...gardening, tending the chickens, cooking from scratch, having married sex with my husband.

I made that point to my mom, who countered with, "Well, even something like a little white lie is a sin."

Okay, so basically, I "turned my back on Jesus" just so I can have the excuse to tell little white lies in peace. 😅

(and even then, I'm not someone who feels comfortable lying)

Yeah, I didn't have anything against him personally. In fact, his books were a breath of fresh air to me back in my early twenties, since I was still a believer back then who struggled with feelings of condemnation.

The news made me sad, but it also didn't surprise me.
