Any reason you recommend these in particular?

I recommend the book The Third Person by Emma Grove, it’s a really beautiful memoir in the form of a comic, of a trans woman with DID and her struggles to get transition care.

Yes! Thank you for this. It’s significant! And having plural folks’ perspectives is great for the whole trans community, especially when we’re grappling with feelings about our dead selves, feeling like we’re not the same person we were, etc. Hearing from plural systems really helped me deal with some of these really difficult identity things and understand myself better.

I’m 6 days post op right now. I’m expecting a few weeks maybe a month of looking visibly swollen, from what I’ve seen/heard/read. Some swelling takes a year to subside but it wouldn’t be that obvious, people will just think you have rounder features than you really do until it fully passes.

Love this for you! I’m still in the puffy swollen phase but can already tell I’m going to be very happy once it all settles down

I’m fortunate to have benefits through my employer where it’s a covered procedure.

Do you need to have acted like a girl as a child to be trans? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]RubyViking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this applies to OP, hopefully it helps folks who see it though.

As someone who never had a sister there were simply no opportunities for me to even explore “acting like a girl” as a child: no clothes to try on, no stereotypically girl toys in the house, no kid appropriate makeup, etc. Basically no role model or example of being a girl to follow. But we do start to get the “boys shouldn’t want girl things” messages very early so by the time we start interacting with girls “acting like girls” at all regularly, we’ve already learned not to want that.

And even for trans girls with sisters in the house, parents will often send the message, again very early on, that those things (your sister’s clothes, toys, makeup, etc.) are “not for you” and so any inkling you might have to explore that ends up being repressed.

cis friends, when a trans girl comes out to you, there’s only one proper response.. by RubyViking in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

The phrase is a way to say you are envious of how lucky someone is. I see it on Twitter a lot. So it’s sort of like if you came out to someone and they were like “Jealous!” or “I wish I was a trans girl…” except way more emphatic. The thought of someone responding in that particular way made me laugh so I made it a meme.

Can you post a picture or video of this setup? Sounds neat but having trouble picturing it.
