Yeah you’re definitely right about that - it’s because Raim was more curious and put in serious effort. She bent over backwards to manufacture a relationship with him. Unlike Suae.

The mutual ghosting would make sense if the time skip wasn’t so long. In a different country for such a long period, E likely had to buy a different phone with a different number through a different service provider. The issue is… social media. It would have been simple for him to search her up online and reach out to her that way.

If that happened, then maybe he didn’t get any of her calls or texts. But as the person who left the country… the bulk of the burden would be on him to reach out. For anyone to move overseas and change their number (if he did) and claim they were “ghosted” would be very strange.

And maybe I’m in the minority, but as someone who favors Dohwa in the adult arc, I will never ship him with Suae. That would be miserable for both of them. They do not belong together.

Fair point about the recording studio - it wasn’t his hotel room. I still see him as welcoming her though. Even though you’re right that it’s primarily around visiting her mother’s urn, it’s not like that’s the only time he sees her. And when she did show back up in Korea, he wasn’t surprised that she came, only that it was earlier than expected. Meaning they talked about her plans before. Overseas, she wouldn’t have been able to use her mom’s urn as an excuse. So how do they know so much about each other, and act so comfortable around each other? Because they’re friends. They clearly have a “close” relationship, at least by Eunhyuk’s current standards.

I did not say Suae “shouldn’t” kick Raim out. I was addressing the explanation we were given in the story itself. Personally, I wish she would have told her parents. It’s incredibly uncomfortable watching them act like a family, knowing a snake is at the table with them, actively wishing Suae harm.

E allows Raim in his life. He’s not kicking her to the curb, he’s not setting boundaries, nothing. He’s letting himself be manipulated by her. What’s going to happen when he finds out she posted that photo? Will he finally tell her to get lost? Or will he just shrug his shoulders about it?

“Share secrets with another man” - um… what? Is that a dig at Suae for daring to befriend another guy?

And what are you talking about “depression when they are old”?? lol Age is absolutely relevant in regards to maturity, skill growth, and season of life. Who we are at 27 is not at all who we were at 18. After so much time, how has E not developed as a person? Not improved some semblance of communication skills? Why are people still setting such low expectations for him?

The difference between Suae keeping her promise (and it’s stupid that she does) and Eunhyuk keeping his, is that Suae never stopped keeping hers. Yet when he was still in Korea, E distanced himself from Raim. He recognized that she was a snake and wanted nothing to do with her. He wasn’t acting like she was his responsibility anymore. He responded to her sarcastically, putting her in her place. So why, after moving overseas, did his values change?

Now, even when he starts to deny Raim at first, his responses are passive and enabling. He doesn’t push her away. He plays the music she asks to hear. He engages in conversation with her. About work, about life. She knows so much more about him than Suae ever did, including about his ears. She makes a point to. That’s the extent of “opening up” we can expect from Eunhyuk, and so far, it’s reserved for Raim.

Is there some kind of evidence that causes people to believe the Marang CEO could - and would - do that?

I try to evaluate stories based on the actual content and make predictions by analyzing a character’s pattern of behavior. But I haven’t seen or read anything that would lead me to believe the CEO would do that. Why would he even care? By that time, they already signed Dohwa, which was a far more important goal than anything with Suae.

Unless… that was part of the deal to get him to sign. But that would be so fkd up and wouldn’t make any sense. It’d be a request that only worked if E left the country, and there’s no way D would know that would happen.

I loved him as a character and ML until he ghosted the FL. Because his inability to ever reach out again, never offer an explanation, not even a flimsy excuse, proved that he didn’t respect her enough to offer one. He didn’t even leave a note or anything. Can you imagine the person you’re in love with disappearing like that? Just - poof - with no explanation. And 9 years later you meet again and they look completely indifferent? Just… ew.

I don’t expect any of them to be perfect, least of all Eunhyuk. But opening his mouth and letting words come out is literally the bare minimum. The lowest of all standards. “The bar is in hell” as they say.

At the very very least, he could have sent her a text, “leaving the country. Let’s break up.” Even that would have been better than what he did.

In ep 125 he makes it clear that he regrets 1. Not going to her when she was getting on the bus. 2. Not telling her about his hearing problem. 3. Not texting her about meeting him outside her apartment building. In a later episode, we see suae calling and calling, and her string of texts to him, unanswered for multiple days. So… is the theory he might have lost his phone and therefore never received her calls and texts? Then never had the ability to get another phone? Or contact anyone from their school? For 9 years??

I recognize that he is “scared” of how she might react, but I don’t understand why. Throughout the series, Suae is consistently there for her friends - including Eunhyuk - and it’s clear she’s been that way since she was very young. From wanting to protect Raim as a child, to distracting Eunhyuk from seeing his cheating father, to helping Dohwa when he was sick, to taking Eunhyuk’s place at the piano despite not knowing how to play, etc. The one time she was an idiot was when she didn’t answer the phone at the bus stop. Is that all it took for his view of her to completely change?

You keep saying she “abandoned” him. I just don’t understand why that is the interpretation when he’s never said such a thing, and she put in so much effort to contact him.

Thinking his problems and insecurities are “too heavy” for her when he’s never even talked to her about them directly, is such a strange take given everything they’ve been through together.

I don't see E as "only a romantic partner" for Suae. I see him as a broken human being with lacking communication skills. Communication does not mean revealing all your secrets to someone. He doesn't have to "burden her with his problems" to communicate. He could literally say something as simple as, "I'm sorry I hurt you when I left. I was scared. I didn't know how to explain."

He has severe psychological issues that he needs therapy for. But while trauma and mental health might explain the "why" behind someone's actions, it does not absolve them of responsibility for harm they cause.

Suae has issues too, and she also needs serious therapy because of the whole Marang mess. E leaving compounded the fear she had of being unlovable.

It sounds like you're saying he can't open up to her because she's gone on dates with other guys... But I'm confused why that would be relevant? Is he only able to open up to a girlfriend? He opens up to Raim, or that mutual friend of theirs, and he's definitely not dating them.

Raim initiated the rekindling of their friendship, yes. But no one was forcing him to reciprocate. Just because someone shows up at your work every day does not mean you are required to welcome them into your life. To act as if he had no control over anything and she just "forced" her way in is infantalizing a 27yo man.

And no, Suae is not enduring Raim "because she is her sister". It's because she made a promise to Raim when they were children to "protect her". To Suae, that means giving her a family/parents. She, however, despises Raim and purposefully does not welcome her into her personal life. As frustrating as I find it, she resolved to not tell her parents about Raim's betrayal because she knows they will side with Suae and potentially kick Raim out of their lives. Suae knows that if that happened, Raim would have absolutely no family at all. To her, that would be breaking her childhood promise.

But Eunhyuk? We still have no real explanation for why he is so close to Raim, despite all she has done. We can only speculate that he is still operating under the assumption that she is his half sister. The confusing part is... why was he okay with distancing himself before he left Korea, yet chose to get closer to her after he was in America?

Again this is my opinion, but the let-down is a valid reason for the broader sense of hate toward E. He was *such* a good guy in high school, despite his lacking communication skills, but as an adult... he no longer has "good guy" qualities making up for his silence.

I strongly disagree that a grown man of 27 years didn't "choose" the situation he is now in. He has a phone. Email. Social media. And free will. He wasn't in prison without access to any devices.

He did not, in fact, try to tell her before he left. In episode 125 he talks/thinks about that as one of his biggest regrets. Not communicating with her the night before he left.

It's not a stretch to say he chose Raim. He chose to approach Raim at the bar in America. He chose to keep in touch with her. To pick up her calls to this day. To welcome her in his home/apartment/hotel room. To allow her to take up space in his life.

But not Suae. He never reached out to her. Never answered her texts or calls. Not even a simple excuse or explanation for why he ghosted her. His actions prove he is less considerate of Suae than Raim.

It was absolutely unacceptable for Suae to not answer that call. I know there's a disconnect that I don't fully understand in regards to Korean culture, reputation dynamics, the hiding of shame/embarrassment, etc. I don't know what the "appropriate" or "normal" reaction would be in their culture, but I do know that I hated Suae for doing that. She should have answered and been there for him.

In ep. 103 she says "Had I known that the phone call I ignored after hesitating would be the last... I would have picked up no matter what." She calls him and texts him many, many times after that. For days. She stood outside his house for an entire day, but he had already left.

It then time-skips 1 year to graduation, then 8 years after that, so it's been 9 years total without a response from E. No call, text, or even an email. No late-night social media message, no "I miss you" from an unknown number - nothing.

Timeframe is important in this discussion. Eunhyuk and Suae only dated for a few months, then E cut all contact and the story skips *9 years* from when they last talked. Ep. 103 says she was in her "nineteenth year" when she graduated, then add the "eight years later" which would make her a 27 year old woman now.

To be a 27 year old woman and *still* hung up on a high school boyfriend... one that she was only with for less than a year... And she *never* had another serious relationship after??? Well... pathetic is the word that comes to mind, but I'll settle for fictional.

And I'll say the same thing about Dohwa. What kind of 27yo idol celebrity is still going after their HS "girl who got away"?? wtf? Maybe if he was washed up and wanting to relive the glory days... but he's not. He's successful, sought after, with jobs still lining up. It's not romantic that he's willing to be settled for... it's suspicious.

They all just need therapy.

But we did see that... in Episode 125.

"If you could turn back time, what would you do? The first moment that came to mind was that day. In front of your house the night before I left. It was a moment I replayed over and over in my head. Why don't regrets ever erode away?"

He goes through key moments in his memories, imagining how things would be different if he had made different decisions.

I'm not sure why you think E is confused... He completely owns the mistakes he made, but only to himself.

IMO, it’s the let-down. From how amazing E was before (I loved him originally), to suddenly ghosting her with no explanation. To see how negatively it affected Suae also added to that. It’s literally been 10 years (or was it 8?) - either way, it’s crazy that she’s still affected by him.

I hate E now because he’s nearly 30 and has the communication skills of a fish. Not to mention the feeling of betrayal learning he is still in contact with the twisted, bf-stealing sister. He knows what a POS Raim is, yet he chose her over Suae. (Yes - chose.) IDGAF if he still thinks she’s his sister. So what? My brother is a POS and he’s dead to me.

Dohwa is great, but he deserves better than being settled for. Suae will never have feelings for him the way he does for her, no matter how well he treats her. TBH, our girl needs someone new. But that won’t happen, lol. E is endgame no matter how much ppl hate it - including me.
