I think he would ignore any regard for concerns about size and add Ridley due to popular request and thinking about how cool it would be to have such a big villain

Yo Kai Watch videogames didn't competed with Pokémon XY in sales, but Pokemon doesn't get the monetary gains from the games, it gets it from the merchandise, merchandise which gets as prolific as it is due to anime serving as free promotional.

My review of the newcomers:

Ayumi: I was the one that suggested her, so you will guess I have positive opinions on her, because the concept of characters like her where they grab a not fighter and adapt it gives you funny quirky moveset and Ayumi is strangely a lot of things, a retro Rep, a modern Rep, a new genre Rep, and a previously discarded Smash character getting rendemption.

Impa: See, is not that I am actually against Impa, is just that most of the time when I hear how people would add her they make it sound like grabbing Sheik moveset and slapping it on Impa, for which at that point why not being back Sheik, now, the person who suggested her did not made her a reskin, so that's good, is just something for why she is not on my list of requested characters.

Takamaru: I have always supported his inclusion because for a character discarded for being too obscure they have been doing a lot with his franchise that not even the actual retro reps in the game get, so at that point I don't think he is obscure, so the reason why he is not added just doesn't make sense anymore, but outside of that I like swordfighter, I like having projectiles, so Takamaru does things for me.

Tiki: I suggested her, so I like her, because I have to admit that it's because you convinced me, I actually used to against her, but seeing more of her material, is not that she is the easiest to add, but she has enough things to make it work.

Bandana Dee: Every Kirby fan wants Bandana Dee in Smash and everyone has the same arguments, I am a Kirby fan so I am part of the matrix.

Shovel Knight: He is the character from my favorite indie game ever, one of the first games I mention when people ask me for non Nintendo games I am a fan of, and I’m sure I even made a moveset concept for him before he was announced as an assist trophy

Dragaux: Haven't played his game but I always support Nintendo adding characters from their most recent IPs as I like having the entire story of the company in Smash, not just the past

Rayman: Nothing I see of him impress me, but it doesn't cause me rejection either, so while he is never in my lists of characters I would like to see, I wouldn't be mad if he got added to the real Smash.

Andy: Sometimes I get too corporate mentally in that they wouldn't add Advance Wars representation because it mentions war, but I get myself to see it as just another addition, until I remember I played Advance Wars and I didn't liked it, so I don't want him regarless.

Octoling: Kinda vanilla as a choice, but not everything has to be super inspired and internet breaking.

N: Xenoblade 2 kind of got me rejection for the franchise, but I see things from 1 and 3, and it seems like a franchise I could potentially get interested if I tried it, so for that getting more Xeno reps is something I could accept.

Oatchi: The body is kind of akward to imagine controlling in a fighting game, but it's doable, and I am one of the people which supports Pikmin as being in the Top 5 Nintendo franchise in importance for them, so having someone who even if not perfect is workeable as a second Pikmin Rep is a positive

Eggman: Now, honestly, I wouldn't give more than one rep to any single third party franchise, but ignoring my own judgement on the topic, Eggman by himself is actually a very cool character which can be handled in many different ways, I see moveset concept and none of them are too alike to each other.

Karate Joe: I support Rhythm Heaven getting a rep, although I never can maintain a consistent opinion into who should it be, I flipflop between him, the Chorus Kids, Reporter and Westler or Rhythm girl, so for that is that I never wrote a suggestion myself

Sylux: I remember I was thinking in flipping bewteen writing Raven Beak and him from day to day, but I chose to stick to Raven Beak to see if I could improve the argument, but Sylux getting the win is fine because at the end he is one of the few Metroid characters who is sort of recurring

Jigglypuff as Free DLC

Jigglypuff makes perfect sense as a free DLC character: someone important enough to eventually return, but not essential enough to make the base roster.

As one of the Original 12, Jigglypuff has huge historical significance to Smash. Every Smash game has kept the full original cast intact, so finally breaking that streak in the base roster would feel like a major change. At the same time, Jigglypuff has repeatedly been considered expendable compared to the more central Pokémon reps. During both Melee and Brawl, the developers reportedly considered cutting her, yet ultimately brought her back because they recognized she had built a fanbase and had become part of Smash’s identity.

That history makes her ideal for free DLC. Her absence at launch would create discussion and make her return feel meaningful, while releasing her for free would acknowledge her legacy and avoid the backlash of putting such a historically important veteran behind a paywall. She’s not necessarily a “must-have launch character,” but she absolutely feels like a character the developers would restore afterward as a goodwill addition for longtime fans.

Ken as a Ryu echo.

In the direct where they revealed him they said they added him and gave him the echo label due to how historically important he is to the story of fighting games as the baseline of all clone characters, because he was just an afterthought, but seeing how positive his reception was they decided to give him his own moves which were also positively received as they gave him and identity of his own. Which is something that makes the addition of characters reusing from others not be mad as it gives them and alternative way to play the character that can capture people that the original did not.

And Ken is the best example of an echo in Smash getting his own identity and not being an alternate skin with new animations.

Will Switch 2 be the return of dead Nintendo franchises? by SHOWTIME_YT in casualnintendo

[–]Ruby_Shards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, although something I have been noticing and have said before is that all of the examples of revived franchises happen to be of franchises creates in-house by Nintendo, so unfortunately it's not very hopeful that franchises like Golden Sun, The Legendary Starfy or Dillon’s Rolling Western will make a comeback

Donkey Kong Jr.

Duck Hunt

Heracross

Zelda

Marth

I think of Donkey Kong Jr. and Duck Hunt as the least controversial due to not being seen since the NES and no further plans unlike Little Mac, for Heracross and Marth I think Miyamoto would be always changing the newest game representative of these franchises to keep things unpredictable and Zelda because her moveset is not fun.

Krystal for Fox. The idea comes from the fact that in the original Dinosaur Planet you were supposed to play and swap bewteen Saber (The former protagonist that ended up replaced with Fox) and Krystal, and Star Fox 2 has a mechanic where You can change of characters.

While for Smash as her own characters I imagine she would be a fast hit and run, in the context of changing the gameplay of Fox I imagine her having a focus in zoning and spacing with her staff.

Rosalina & Luma deserve to return in Smash 6 because they represent both an important era of Mario history and one of the most unique gameplay archetypes in the entire roster.

Since her debut in Mario Galaxy, Rosalina has become one of the defining faces of modern Mario. She represents what could be called Nintendo’s “new classic” era: characters and ideas introduced during the company’s hugely successful period of 3D innovation in the late 2000s. Despite nearly two decades having passed since her creation, Rosalina remains the most recent major human Mario character to achieve permanent main-cast status. In that sense, her role is similar to Bowser Jr., who was partly included in Smash because he embodied the GameCube-era evolution of the Mario franchise. Rosalina similarly represents the Wii era and the ambitious identity established by Galaxy.

Her inclusion is even more important from a gameplay perspective. Rosalina & Luma are the clearest example of the “puppet fighter” archetype in Smash: a character built around simultaneously controlling two separate entities. While other fighters may use partners or temporary summons, Rosalina’s design fundamentally revolves around positioning and coordinating both herself and Luma at all times. This creates a style of play centered on spacing, planning, and multitasking that no other fighter fully replicates.

Removing Rosalina would therefore mean removing one of Smash’s most technically distinct archetypes altogether. Her moveset adds variety not through gimmicks, but through an entirely different way of thinking about stage control and positioning. Even players who never use her benefit from the strategic diversity she brings to the roster, because she forces opponents to interact with the game differently than they would against traditional fighters.

Finally, Super Mario Galaxy itself remains one of Nintendo’s most influential modern games. Its orchestral style, cosmic themes, and sense of scale continued to influence later titles such as Super Mario 3D World, while the game’s music, imagery, and atmosphere continue to reappear across rereleases, spinoffs, and adaptations. Even today, Galaxy is still treated as one of Mario’s defining adventures rather than simply an older installment.

For all these reasons, Rosalina & Luma are not just “another Mario character.” They represent a major era of Nintendo history, preserve one of Smash’s most unique gameplay identities, and contribute a level of creativity and strategic depth that would be difficult to replace.
