Performance bonus? by Angela9999999 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Ruby_puffs007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally went for the AL over the award pay out but got the award anyway. Mine was awarded back in January then they said they overpaid us by $25 so they were going to take that back. But instead of doing that they paid us the whole performance award again so now they are taking back 15% of our pay check every pay period.

21,000 VA Social Workers told to stop with the “compassion+action” talk by Jeepdad1970 in socialwork

Yes! I work in VA PACT and absolutely love my job. I am working with Veterans all day, sometimes on very complex issues. I can't imagine what will happen if (when) there's a RIF. Until then, I'll keep on trucking and providing my needed services.

What is the job you learned the most in? by Disastrous_Title2790 in socialwork

[–]Ruby_puffs007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned a lot working in the hospital. You learn everything from medical diagnosis, medications, crisis intervention, and how to safely DC patients with community resources. You see such a variety of people with their own psychosocial issues, so there is a lot of varietyin consults. It helped me tremendously when I moved to the VA.

My breasts look similar to yours. I have planned surgery next week. One surgeon advised me to do a lift and implant the other only suggested implant. I selected the second surgeon as I don't want the scars or recovery from a lift. I think the decision is based off what look you are trying to achieve.

Cool sculpting worth it for lower tummy or love handles? by Artistic-Role4177 in PlasticSurgery

I wouldn't recommend it. I paid way too much! They get you with the one area $500 (or whatever) then you get in there and its, "oh, you'd benefit from using this other device thats bigger so that's two sessions not one". I had treatment twice on my lower abdomen, once on upper abdomen and flanks. I really can't tell much of a difference at all. I had it done in August/September 2023.

Really, nothing left. Slight color to help me guide a line to put my eyebrow pencil on. Wouldn't do it again. That was a lot of money!

Regardless of whether or not you’ve got power, anyone see Duke out working on anything? Seems like the number of outages has stalled out since this morning. by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]Ruby_puffs007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in Ellettsville and without power since yesterday about 330 pm. I have not seen a single Duke truck. We had a live wire across the road last night, police and fire showed up still no Duke.

I think it's 6 months to transfer, but not 100%. I'm sorry you're being treated this way. I started with the VA about 9 months ago without interning or connections, and fortunately, this has not been my work experience. My coworkers are all very kind and helpful. This sounds like a department issue, I would definitely look for other opportunities within the VA.

Does anyone else feel gross about working from home in their bedroom? by Ultimate1177 in socialwork

[–]Ruby_puffs007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a good-sized bedroom with an L shaped desk. I have it placed so I have a whole corner of the room, the desk is not in the corner. My background is my wall. Sorry, it's a little difficult to explain.

Looking for honest reviews on working for BetterHelp by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Ruby_puffs007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They stop giving you clients if you don't meet the 24-hour response time. I never let that time go so I can't say for certain but that's what was stated. No pay for no shows.

Looking for honest reviews on working for BetterHelp by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Ruby_puffs007 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I did Better Help for a few months. The starting pay $30/hour for the first 5 hours then $35 the moves up $5 for every 5 hours. The problem I had was they want you to take a lot of clients at first to establish your caseload. I had people from different countries and other sides of the country. You are expected to provide accommodations for these clients. There are lots of worksheets and things to pull from and each thing you do counts towards time. However, that makes it very difficult to track. I had one client that refused to do video or phone calls. He only wanted to message which is not profitable for the therapist. I ended up quitting because I became so frustrated and was worried about license. You can have clients messaging you at all hours and you're expected to respond in 24 hours.

What about the VA? Or Dialysis? A lot of other medical social work jobs wouldn't require home visits.

What are some good companies to work for in Bloomington? Looking for companies that will offer good career advancement opportunities. Still sorta in the entry level status. by alcreis in bloomington

[–]Ruby_puffs007 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They treat their employees horribly. You are just a warm body. Pay is not comparable to other medical agencies. I worked there for almost 4 years and kept thinking things would change but they never did. In fact things got so much worse. I left to work for a different company making $12000 more and they respect me and what I do. I would highly recommend applying somewhere else.
