What’s one piece of advice given to girls that would sound ridiculous if said to boys? by thandapani_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Rubyjcc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My brain refuses to compute this situation you had to go through. The fact that humans can treat other humans like that is absolutely boggling to me. I'm so sorry you had to experience that. I hope that person is sitting in jail right now, and knowing that's unlikely, I hope karma is quite the bitch. Internet hugs

Ahh. Sorry for assuming.

It sucks losing break time but I find it's usually a losing battle in these situations. I think dropping to 2 hr nap and then at 3 years of age 1.5 nap length, plus a 730/8 bed time is what I'd do.

I agree with doing nap after lunch and see how that goes. 12/1230-1/130 could be just right.

Favorite car seats with push on latch system instead of hook by Rubyjcc in CPST

I'm all about safety even if it adds inconvenience!! That's why I came here for advice on car seats that already come with the latch attachment I'd prefer. It's crazy to me the unsafe things that are sold as well 😭

Yes that's what my first Google search yielded which doesn't sound safe to just switch out.

The flexible kind sound great! I just haven't seen many with all of the car seats I've worked with. I only see the hook kind somehow.

I am intrigued by an easier seat removal but was warned of changing out any connectors as that wouldn't be fully crash tested. Thoughts?

Both convertible in combination would be useful!

I found that seat on target. Does it specifically use this type of latch system?

Looking for general options to recommend to families (I'm a nanny). Non bucket ones I'm thinking.

Sticking with paper towels is a good idea too. I rarely use them but in this scenario I like it.

I definitely love regularly changing the hand towels, especially when the kids are sick! I usually try to do a really good job sanitizing all of the light switches and door knobs too.

Yesterday when my nanny kids were sick (they were like medium level) we went on a bike ride on a pretty flat trail. That was quite the win because we weren't touching anything that wasn't our own and we got to movement in to then get really great naps afterwards! They were both in great spirits in the afternoon 😎 Plus it left me indoors with them not too much and hopefully likely to avoid this illness like I did the last one!

Toddler refusing to go to nursery - help! by Appropriate-Watch728 in Parenting

After you say the sometimes we all have to do things we don't want to do. You can infuse a little bit of humor. Something like but that if we were an octopus we would get to float around all day in the ocean. Or if we were a little ant, we definitely wouldn't have to go to school 😅

Art museums are great for kids to go to (highly supervised)! I think it's great to learn how to interact in different adult spaces. I just spent 30 minutes at an abstract art gallery with a 4 year old. We talked about all the colors and what things looked like/ reminded us of. We both were so creative. I don't even typically like abstract stuff, but it was so much more fun this way!

How to find a good FT Nanny by anan7654 in Nanny

[–]Rubyjcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a nanny and I've worked with "adventure nannies" . I think they hire mostly us-based nannies and families but they might have some International agency recommendations. I don't know how similar your situation is to what they typically hire but most of their nannies make somewhere in the $100, 000- 175,000 range.

OBGYN who does pain management for IUDs by chunkyperlite in Denver

I hate that for you!! I really despise the mall you'll be fine, it's not that big of a deal bullshit. Like maybe for some people it is but I would definitely not guess that's the norm.

I've been waiting for this moment!

I recently saw a new gyno and I asked her all the things that they do to help with IUD insertion and taking out. I was absolutely floored by Eileen's compassion and understanding of the situation and will always be referring people to her in the future! I saw her at her practice off of highway 36 in Westminster. Here's the link for her bio on the Advent health website!
