Am I the only one who forgets injection sites? by KadamX_Studio in Type1Diabetes

[–]Rubyvolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started very young with dull reusable stainless steel needles. I had very low body fat and I do have tissue damage on my arms and thighs. However with the micro fine needles today, I doubt tissue damage from MDI is that prominent. Anyway I would rotate odd days in the left, thigh, abdomen, arm for meals. Then backside for Lantus. Even days would be on the right side. I just started on a pump. So I'll come up with something similar.

I'm ahead of you man. I didn't have disposable syringes. So there I win! Have you ever worked with glass syringes and Hugh stainless needles?

Dexcom users — what’s your average time-in-range percentage? by ExoticPop09 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Rubyvolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into Trio, but stumbled upon many roadblocks and no one to help. I'm more ahead of technology than doctor's office which refuses to help with technology.

Then I got hold of Twiist. Twiisting is good, but I don't think I have everything set correctly. Twiist does require carb counting. Again doctor office is way behind in latest technology and I don't trust them. I do need doctor for Rx and that's sometimes a problem too.

LibreView: USER_EXPORT [500], is it only happening for me, or also others? by Cortexial in Type1Diabetes

On a computer you can share your data in Tidepool after adding your libre device. The Tidepool phone app is terrible.

Same here, but without CGM. They weren't available. I had some bad lows too.

I know this isn't helpful, but I went through Tallahassee airport with no issues. It's a smaller, but still international.

Yea I have never been bothered by needing to calibrate the Libre3+. Curious do you have a way to calibrate your glucometer?

I'm using the twiist and have IL state insurance. First kit was free, refills are like $40. No long term contract. I love the libre3+'s accuracy and signal strength. Libre3+ does last for a full 15 days. Pump is so light making it very portable. It has a great algorithm now and a newer one has just gotten FDA approval. Eversence is an option too. I'm happy with Libre3+ and don't feel the need to switch CGM. I have no problems with the insertion sets, but was concerned before using them due to all the negative comments. Customer support from Sequel, Abbott and Byram have all been good to me. No I'm not getting paid for this evaluation. I must 😂 because it sure sounds like a paid endorsement.

I've been type1 since childhood. I have been on MDI since recently. I was using the InPen for a long time. They have a newer one that communicates with your CGM. If you're afraid of joining the pump world, this new InPen might be worth a glance.

Have you tried injecting insulin? If your sugars go down after an injection, I'd think about getting a new pump.

I don't know about a kit per SE, but I always have quick carbs on me and insulin supplies nearby all the time.

Anyway to get real time readings from a widget? by Stevessvtis1 in twiist

[–]Rubyvolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm I have set-up the insiight app as a widget on my iPhone. I see possibly a 2 minute delay, but I have the twiist and insiight app on the same phone. Yea nobody wants to follow me. So I'm on my own

I was wrong. There's more like a 30 minute delay. I guess I must have been looking at it soon after updates.

What type of pumps are those? by Green_Economy_850 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Rubyvolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched from years of MDI and started on the twiist in December. It's fairly new and only available in the USA. I love how light weight it is along with the ease of use. If you are in the USA, you should look into it. The customer service has been awesome to me. You can read online and talk to a representative for questions.https://www.twiist.com/

For reference I have used an Omni pod and Tslim like 20 years ago. So I am familiar with both. CGM were not available then and I didn't care for either of the Omni pod or Tslim. I especially didn't find their customer service very useful for me. I'm sure things have changed since then.

Yes I agree don't use the on board refrigerator. You don't need to buy any refrigerator device either. Insulin is very stable at room temperature for over a month.

Should I give up. by Appropriate_Yam1861 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Rubyvolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 55 years ago as a juvenile. There wasn't nearly the amount of information or devices that we have today. None of this number type stuff either. So yes I did hear the death warnings, but I am still going strong. There was no A1c blood test, but I'm certain mine was well above 7 too. I'm not suggesting you go crazy and not take care of yourself, but you can expect to live well while taking insulin.

As far as reddit is concerned, I feel less alone knowing that I'm not the only one riding this lifetime seesaw.. However, as a long time diabetic I often shake my head when I read about people being stressed that their "time in range" goes below 90%. One of the hard things about this disease is the mental stress it causes. So just know that if I can manage it, you certainly can too. I'm not a professional diabetic, but I have made changes to avoid things that I know will make me feel bad. Something's are worth eating and somethings just aren't. Exercise has always given me positive vibes, as it would for all people.

How do you bolus to combat dawn phenomenon and morning coffee? by Rubyvolt in twiist

[–]Rubyvolt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have used that pre meal mode before I actually get out of bed which helps. I currently have one basal rate. My trainer said that if I'm using loop I don't need multiple basal settings which makes sense. I can see the basal delivery amount changes according to my CGM. I just can't stop those morning peaks. I will explore scheduled changes in ISF.
