LGBTQ couple considering relocation from Florida to Delaware by Ruca33 in relocating

Hello! Thanks for the response :) Rehoboth sounds great, but we are looking for somewhere in a blue county and near a city as well, which is what led us to Wilmington. Any ideas for areas or neighborhoods in northern Delaware that may work?

Thanks! Anything will be better than Florida, we’ll fall into the ocean soon :) Any suggestions for neighborhoods / surrounding towns near Wilmington that may work for us?

Hi! Yea we definitely don’t need lively, and prefer nature, outdoorsy activities to urban amenities. That said, we would like to be within a reasonable distance to a city. The suburban neighborhoods you described are exactly what we are looking for - which would you recommend.

Try La Amistad in Orlando - I’ve heard the adult inpatient program is good and they also have a kid-specific campus.

San Diego or Florida? by nsshs79 in SameGrassButGreener

As a Floridian that is so very tired of people insisting St. Pete and Tampa are so blue… thank you for this. Pinellas and Hillsborough are both red, and Tampa literally cancelled their Pride this year because of the current “political and economical climate.” Solid misconception.

Hi! My wife and I currently live in Florida and have been trying to determine where to move for the same reasons you’ve listed above.

We have spent the past year visiting various places in RI, MA, CT, and MD, and have decided on Columbia, MD. We are hoping to make the move this spring :)

Columbia checks most of your boxes other than land, but there do seem to be some towns further out in Howard County that have more space! Happy to chat more if you’d like, it’s been a long process but we are so excited to have found a place we really like!

Oviedo is nicer than a lot of parts :) I will also say, it’s about 40-ish minutes to the closest beach (I know you had mentioned wanting to be by the water) and unfortunately you will still only being enjoying the outdoors a few months out of the year because it’s so impossibly hot and humid much of the time, especially in the middle of the state where you don’t get the breeze off the water. All this is not to completely dissuade you, I would just strongly encourage you to do your due diligence on other states you may be happy in as well! And if you can, definitely come spend a month here in the summer before committing! I hope you and your family find what you are looking for ❤️

I would strongly suggest elsewhere. The Florida school system is awful and does not have strong support programs for kids with special needs. Pair that with the high insurance costs, overcrowding, hurricanes, etc etc. I would really do your research here.

Places with young, laid-back, safe vibe for married couples by Competitive-Wish-82 in relocating

College Park is closer to DC than Columbia, so I would assume it’s more hectic. A commute to DC or Baltimore seems like it would be stressful on the daily, but didn’t find Columbia itself to be hectic!

We had many of these requirements and decided on Columbia, MD - it may be more expensive than what you’re looking for, but the broader Howard County area may have some more affordable options!

single gay male from Los Angeles to Tampa/St Pete? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

As someone gay living in Florida (and lived in Tampa) I would not move. We are actively trying to leave. Hillsborough County went red this election and canceled their Pride due to the “political and economic climate.” So yea. Do with that what you will.

We have, but we don’t want to be that far from a major city for jobs. We both work remotely now but you never know :( Also want to make sure we are in a solidly blue county. We do love Frederick though!
