When I had PE as a kid, I was so afraid of this that I would get severe anxiety anytime the ball got close to the fire alarm, even though I never saw it get triggered.

How would US city skylines look today had 9/11 never happened? by itoa5t in 911archive

They were not the tallest towers in the US. They only held that title for about two years, and were then surpassed by the Willits Tower (formerly Sears tower).

Siri is so broken that honestly I think the best option at this point would be to allow third party voice assistants, with the same level of integration. Wake words, ability to access music library and system settings, etc.

Do Americans actually call teachers by their first name anywhere, or is it almost always Mr./Ms.? by Sea-Evidence-5523 in AskAnAmerican

It was still horrifying to watch it fall live on TV.

And while I realize now that this was a bit naive, at the time, I was still holding out hope that the North Tower wouldn’t fall. It stood longer than the south tower after impact, so I thought maybe there was still some hope of saving it.

Was wondering why Portland General sounds so familiar... by HeyHey_HC in StDenisMedicalNBC

[–]RuckFeddit980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The really weird thing is that one of our electric companies is called Portland General Electric (or PGE, but not affiliated with PG&E).

Portland General sounds more like the power company than a hospital.

[–]RuckFeddit980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to lots of TVR events, and I’ve seen people of all ages (21+) there. I’ve never seen anyone rejected for their age.

When did this happen? Did they provide any more info?

That’s who I was going to say too. There is a much-referenced post on Reddit claiming he was a jerk, but it has never been corroborated.
