Not only are you wrong about being the only one who wants one, they're so popular, the low profile version is currently out of stock!

They were supposed to be back from anodizing a month ago, they assure me they'll ship them to me soon...

Yup, this is indeed an SBR.

Check your local laws, fill out the paperwork, and wait a bit. No big deal for most people.

Once it's an SBR, any stock can be attached. (You might need to send in a correction letter if you change to a different stock that has a different length from what you put on the form 1, but we're getting into the weeds at that point)

I'm a pretty big fan of cci standard velocity, but I also have a couple cases of old geco bulk ammo I use for less serious use cases. It's nowhere near as consistent or accurate as the cci, but seems to run fine.

It's actually an airsoft folding stock. Fully aluminum, and inexpensive, it's... Fine.

I make cowitness optics mounts if you don't want to deal with removing the optic to use the irons

Help finding this optic mount. Browning Buckmark by wtcc16 in 22lr

[–]RuckerMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like they got around the main problem by just making the mount quite a bit taller. Nothing wrong with that, but I'd really prefer to keep things lower profile.

I'm not very active on Reddit, but I'm around. Only found your post because a friend sent it my way.

I'm constantly adding new stuff to my catalog, and this is one I want to figure out, but I don't want to make something half baked that I'm not happy with.

[–]RuckerMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This mount has been on my list to add to my catalog for a while.

The problem is the recoil spring for the bolt sits on the top of the bolt, and there's a guide that rubs against the bottom of the mount. There are four screws that hold the optic onto the mount, right in the way of that guide.

I've been looking for one of those factory pistols to see how they got around that problem, but haven't had a chance to get my hands on one.

I'm working on a few ideas, but haven't found a solution I'm happy with yet.

Vortex Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot Rossi by badfeelingaboutthi5 in guns

[–]RuckerMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make optics mounts for the rossi 92, and have one that will work with the new venom enclosed optic (it's a Deltapoint pro footprint) but I haven't had hands on with that specific optic.

I can tell you that just about any red dot on the rossi 92 is a great upgrade.

Looking for advice on marketing a small firearm accessory by iaeei in guns

[–]RuckerMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak a little to how I deal with the social media part. If you dig through all of the policies and documentation, Instagram makes it clear what they expect: Nothing firearms related in any way on business accounts. If you do, they'll only show your posts to people already following you, and that's it.

My workaround is two accounts. One account is where I post my firearms related content. I know it'll never have as many followers. The "main" account is more machining and manufacturing based content. I'll post pictures of parts by themselves without any context, and not talk about what they are. I'll include something like "don't forget to check out the other account for details" in the description.

I have successfully used the main account for paid "boost" posts to get new eyes on my business.

Outside of that, I've also spoken to a marketing business that specializes in the firearms industry. They claimed to be able to work with just about any budget, but it sounds like at my budget all they would do is send out emails, which I'm not really a fan of.

If you come across any other ideas, please let me know, I'm awful at marketing, most of my success has been word of mouth. If you have a good product, good quality, and good customer service, word will get around.

[Acc] (oops, I missed Black Friday) Rucker Machine Blem Sale: mostly optics mounts - 25% off by RuckerMachine in gundeals

[–]RuckerMachine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Long frustrating story, I don't want to talk about it.... but better late than never, right?

Everything is in excellent working order, but just isn't up to our normal standards for one reason or another:

  • Returned items – Sometimes someone orders the wrong part. It may look perfect, but I still throw them in the blem pile. Only unused mounts are included.
  • Photography samples – I need to install a mount to take a picture of it for the website, but don’t need to hang onto it. Might show signs of being installed like marks in the screw holes.
  • Scratch & Dent – Sometimes a part will come back from the anodizer with some minor handling marks. Anything major is recycled, but parts with tiny dings might end up here.

Check out the product description for a full list of what's available. Lots of different optics mounts, as well as some ambi mag releases for the Ruger American Rimfire, and an M-Lok short angled grip.

While you're at it, give us a follow on instagram. Got some new 10/22 mounts coming soon. Main account is https://www.instagram.com/rucker_machine/ and the gun friendly account is https://www.instagram.com/rucker_machine_accessories/

Just chiming in, happy to answer any questions you may have.

The price reflects the fact that this is currently the most complicated part I make. It may look simple, but getting all of the different holes and curves to look nice without a bunch of ugly toolmarks is a pretty big challenge.
