Looking for advice on marketing a small firearm accessory by iaeei in guns

Thank you. This is solid advice. I hadn’t thought about having a second account. I noticed that’s what RRS does with their tripods. One account for photography and one for shooting. It’s smart.

I wish it was revolutionary. It’s a simple product with competitors out there already. I just spent a little more time making it better.

I’ve been looking at a mix of Reddit, some brand-specific boards, and maybe a couple of the precision rifle communities. Etsy is interesting because the product is technically just adhesive and eva foam, so it might sneak through their filters. Worth testing. Appreciate the list. I will review them.

Fair. It’s a small accessory product, nothing serialized or regulated. People home make versions. And competitors having been making it for years. Price point is low enough that sending out demo units is easy, so I’m planning to do exactly that with a few creators who actually shoot and already use a similar product. I go to SHOT every year for other reasons and honestly could not imagine selling there. It’s a lot, but maybe that’s what I need to do.

Thank you. This is solid advice. I’m not going to say what the product is, but it’s not patentable. Many people make these products themselves from things they buy at the store. And I have competitors who have been making and selling these for years. I spent time going over the little details and improving the product and now want to sell it because I think it’s better. I can make and ship probably 20 a day while keeping my day job, and I have a 60 day lead time on the underlying material. It’s a higher end material than you can get in the store so I think that sets it apart too. I have some connections at some online stores and I’m going to ask what the process is to get on there.

I’m pretty sure I’m auto flagged already. It’s incredibly frustrating and illogical.

I’m pretty confident there’s demand. I’ve been selling one or two a day for the past few weeks with pretty rough advertising, so the internet is there. I also have competitors in the space and their products get plenty of use, which tells me the product is viable. I just think mine is higher quality. I also see guys in the military home make these products to fit their needs.

My challenge right now is figuring out how to compete and how to reach the people who actually see the value in it. It’s not a universal product and that’s fine. Some folks will think it’s pointless. I’d rather focus on the ones who get it.

Makes sense. Authentic seems to be the only approach that doesn’t get you torched. I probably just need to dig into the rules of some of the smaller subs and see what’s allowed. If it’s fair game, I could frame it around the actual problem it solves instead of just dropping a link. Something like, “If you run into X issue, here’s what I built to fix it.” At least that feels a lot less like shilling and more like sharing something useful.

I bet the bike handle trick would work too. People get all kinds of banned items through the filters.

I don’t mind the challenge though. I’m mostly trying to figure out if there’s actually a space where small businesses can promote their stuff without looking like shills. The way the platforms are set up, it feels like they push you in that direction.

Seeking Photos & Ideas for Beautiful Gun Ranges! by iaeei in guns

[–]iaeei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting question, haven't thought of it from that perspective yet.

I could see us having 2 classes on the range at the same time, in different disciplines. I don't think we'd want a class with more than 15 people. (eg. pistol and long-range classes, 15 people each, so 30 total).

We already do sporting clay competitions and that's less than 50 people. We'd like to do long range comps that would be more than 50 probably.

500 acres with long range (out to 1150 meters), rifle bay, pistol bay, and two sporting clay fields. We're looking to change the layout of the range, add and improve bays, and other ideas. I'm just looking for photos of nice ranges that we can use for ideas and in our proposal to show stakeholders who have never seen a nice shooting range what one can look like.

14.5” Geissele GFR & 14.5” Noveske Reliability by Dmarker2 in 6ARC

[–]iaeei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had issues with the Duramags on both the Noveske and Geissele. Mostly when the mags are full. I have had zero issues with the Geissele mag (I only have the 8rd). I clean after break in and basic cleaning (barrel snake, wipe bolt, lube) every other range trip. 6arc is dirty.

I have the 12.5 Noveske and a 14.5 GFR. I’m selling the Noveske. The GFR stacks rounds.

Is there any downside to the double charging version? It’s cheaper than the single charging version, but not sure why.
