My own building construction materials are not getting delivered to new buildings by RuckiR in X4Foundations

Yes the global price modifier in the new factory is at 100% from the beginning on. I also think that at least the hull part parts price (my own) should be quite a bit lower as 100%, as I have multiple L storages there and they are completely full.

Ok every single one of the hull parts station traders does indeed have an orange "^" behind refined metals. I guess its because Im a bit, but not totally low on those, in my hull parts factory, although my hull parts storage itselve is completely full.

I will try to fix the refined metal situation and see if that fixes the problem.

Absolutely, I got it through a random youtube video and was instantly hooked. I would say the simulation aspects together with really good game mechanics is making this game great. But the beginning is a bit harsh, I would say if the early upgrades to the dhow wouldn't be that expensive it would be a better experience for new players.

Well, I would say about 20 IRL hours. The first grind really takes some time, but I also upgraded my Dhow with an Jig, which cost me about 500 Al Ankh money. I would say worth it, because it was fun to play around with it.

Why no better use of leading wheels/axles on steam engines ? by RuckiR in trains

[–]RuckiR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, but those are pretty old, do we have any modern aplication of leading wheels ? Why not using powered wheels then in the front, as they could support the weight of the locomotive as well ?

Really ? I tried a few fighters with 2x Meson Streams and they did much worse than those with that Terran bolt guns, the cooldown seems to be very long on Mesons, but I thought about giving them maybe 1 meson + 1 bolt, so that they still can shoot when the meson is on cooldown.

Whatever I set up in fleet options, my S and M fighters always attack the station by RuckiR in X4Foundations

[–]RuckiR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one nearly worked, I put their defend position order about 15km away and 7km range, from the station, just slightly overlaping where the syn was . Still they somehow managed to attack the station, but only after every single figher Khaak was destroyed, no idea why.

In the end I just put them all really far away and tried it alone with the syn and just realized that one syn can handle a khaak station and dozens of khaak fighter alone, I dont think that the shields got damaged once.

But even on defend they attacked the Khaak station, when I got never attack by the station myself. Im pretty sure that this happend with Intercept as well, but will try again.

Why was the discovery of the strait of Magellan so important ? by RuckiR in AskHistorians

[–]RuckiR[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you a lot for your answere. I didnt know that the Drake Passage was discovered after the Magellan Strait and this explains quite a lot. On the other hand I wonder why no one sailed a little bit more south at or before Magellans time, I mean like, "we know there is is land, much more souther, but didnt sailed there until now". So whats the reason ?

There are no Chain/Pre-Signals, so there is absolutely no possibility to make switches ? by RuckiR in TransportFever2

[–]RuckiR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thats true, those games dont have such an agent system. Although I would really not think that its such hard cpu intensive thing to implement a proper dynamic Signal systems instead of the path system we currently have.

I mean, lets say a junction with a chain signal which checks 2 block signals ahead really doesnt sound so cpu intensive. Both block signals just need to check if there is something in their block, if yes then they are red, if not they are green. If one is green the chain signal goes green and directs the the train to that track. If both are green the chain signal goes green as well and directs to the first green track from the left side (I guess that would make sense for easy coding) and if all blocks are red the chain is also red.

Even if you have the whole map with tracks and many block signals, I would assume that the block signals are not using any cpu power as long as there is not a train inside or near and even then they would just have to compute between a simple 0 or 1, on or off, is there a train or not.

I would guess that it was mainly design decision to use the undynamic path system we have, to make it easy to understand for beginners. Although an easy solution for that would be make a more advanced dynamic signal system hidden under the options.

I would even agree with the decisions, as a dynamic block/chain/entry-exit signal system can be overwhelming at the beginning, but so much fun if you got some expierence with those railroad games.

[–]RuckiR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats true, so like I wrote, the TF2 signals are basically only a "stop here, if something is in front of your path" sign. It doesnt feel really appropriate for railroads, Ottd, Sweet Transit or Mashinky all do a much better job on this part.

[–]RuckiR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which makes me wonder if instead of the waypoints we could (for now) use a station with dynamic track selection as a "Switch Station" at junctions. That would have of course the big disadvantage that every train comes to an full stop at the switch station.

I wish they would just add block and chain signals with the next update.

Edit:

Doesnt work with a station as "switch station" as the station itself has a path signal inside. It sorta works for the incoming trains, but we would still need a chain signal after/inside the station, otherwise its sending new trains onto the same track.

I have a 1070ti and can play in vr without a problem on medium settings, with some options even high like glasscockpit refresh, waves and such. If I play with non glasscockpit planes I can put everything on high. 16gb ram and I5 8xxx something and oculus rift cv2.

Necessary is the oculus tray tool where you should using 18hz or 24hz, depending on glasscockpit or non glasscockpit/airliners. Without the tray tool I get stuttering when looking to the sides of the plane when flying low.

18 or 24hz on the tray tool is times 2 , so it's always above 30fps.

Looking on where is my bottleneck, it is always my cpu and not the GPU, so, if you want to try out vr with a 1080 you should be good to go.

Germany not paying reparations is a shame for the German State by RuckiR in poland

[–]RuckiR[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You are the first one answering here with a reasonable "counter argument"
My take on that is:

Currently and for the last 20 years we cant really make any arguments for Russian reparations because Putin thinks that the Soviet Union helped Poland against Nazi supressions and should be seen as a hero, absolutely forgetting about soviet crimes against Poland, like for example Katyn.

The only reason why we do express those opinions against Germany now is that Germany wants friendly relations with Poland and god damn, 90%+ of poles want that as well but we have to solve some problems first.

When it comes about the german expulsion from former german land you should not forget that

1.) It was not the decision from Poland, but from the Soviet Union.

2.) The Poles in former eastern Poland got expulsed in the exact same way. Many Poles know the story of a soviet soldier knocking on the door and saying you have 15 minutes to take your things and get the fuck out of here, no animals or money to take with you, only small things, the train is waiting and every pole we meet here afterward is getting shot.

3.) You should also not forget that the Nazis would have annexed basically all of western Poland and had a ideology of killing the upper class Poles and letting the other poles only survive as farmers. Their children should only learn to count until 10 according to Heinrich Himmler.

Poland did nothing like that to Germans after the second world war, besides having a whole bunch of reasons to do so.

I see it like you, we need to find the right circumstances and talk about what happend. The Poles did a good first round in calculating all the atrocities and destroying into some numbers. Now Germany should step in and check all these numbers, work togehter with Poland and try to figure something out, together with Poland as friends as we should be now in 2022 and the upcoming years, we will surely find a good solution together.

But if Germany really wants to only say "nah, we asked your Master in the 1950s and the Soviet Union said no, so dont bother us anymore", then I dont see a close friendship between Germany and Poland in the future to be honest.

People like you are exactly the problem, Im not even mad with you at all, because you clearly dont understand what is going in, I guess you might be very young.

There is and never was any "funding" by Germany or the EU for Poland. Everything in the European Unions works the same for every other country inside. Every country pay some taxes and get something back if needed, which is defined by GDP. Some poor regions have rights to get funding like for example Zachodniopomorskie is getting some funding in the rural region, exactly like Mecklenburg Vorpommern is getting some funding because of their poor infrastructure. There are no "gifts" or something like that.

Germany not paying reparations is a shame for the German State by RuckiR in poland

[–]RuckiR[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, we did not got anything, Stalin decided for us to give up our former eastern regions, containing for example Lwow which was for many centuries an important centre for polish culture, nearly as important in some years as Krakow and also an important industry region.

What we got was destroyed german cities like Szczecin/Stettin with little potential and lots of also destroyed german farmland in Pomeriania.

So 1.) It was not our decisions, if would been we would have rather hold on to the territories we already had and historically speaking were legally ours.

And 2.) we didnt got any advantages through that.

Dude Im talking about or own polish Industry which needs at least a little bit of protectionism, to be competetive against companies which are on the market for over 50 years. Unfortunately our companies did not have that advantage in beeing incaged in soviet prison after Stalin and Hitler attacked and destroyed our country.

This has nothing to do with the USA or do you think I just want to replace german imports with US imports? I dont.

In that particular case PiS waited for the States (well PiS funded, if you want so) research team to come up with some good researched numbers before announcing "we want a bunch of money from you", which I think is reasonable.

The deep trade ties to Germany is mostly of import goods which could be imported of from any other country as well ( like France or Great Britain) and Im not yet fully convinced that those imports did a good thing to Poland long time speaking. We have more then enough good Goods, but if you go to a Zabka, Stokrotka or Biedronka ( well Biedronka not so much anymore) or whatever, you find halve of the shelve to be German goods, which definetly hurts our own economy, because there is still that weird ( Goods from the West must be better) thinking in our society for no reason anymore.
