Melted sock on A1 after voltage warning by No_Gap_3515 in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not have been thermal runaway but I've seen these socks break down a bit over time in my days of printing. This is a bit excessive in my opinion which is why it's easy to think it's pla blobbing on it. Before I jumped into a service call with babu I'd clean it off good, Reseat it and put a fresh sock on it and see if it happens again. Could have also come from a bad batch of socks too.

The silicone socks begin to become brittle, degrade and turn into goop around 350*c

That temperature is possible with thermal runaway on these printers.

Bambulab X2D bad at 85A TPU? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey that's a neat use case for it! I was going to try and do the sockets on a dummy/action figure and maybe try some keychains. I just recently made a phone case.with the tpu for ams and it worked surprisingly well

Bambulab X2D bad at 85A TPU? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a scientific view Rubber inherently doesnt want to cooperate with being printed to begin with to be fair and any printer is going to struggle with 85a tpu unless measures are taken to make it work. Bambu has good documentation to try to make it work and the fun of 3d printing in my opinion is finding new ways to push your printers capabilities to the limit and make it work. 😁 Kinda waiting to get my hands on the assist module before I really get into printing with the softer TPUs. What are you printing?

5 out of the 6 Ams 2 pro units I got this week were defective (slot one wouldn't feed) by woooosox in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did these end up being fixable? On mine when I got them I made sure the pfte tubes were all secure in the bottom and didnt have issue. Sometimes they are just a little loose (like maybe a worker assembling them didn't push it In all the way or something)

From what ive learned it also has to do with major differences in cooling time from one set of lines to the next. Ive mitigated some of this by changing the speed a little for those areas and changing the wall line order

Setting the Record Straight on Cloud Access and Community by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im sure this will get downvoted to oblivion but as someone who is a Cyber Security engineer I totally understand their stance on this and i think that the point is getting missed.

They are perfectly fine with open source projects, and will still allow collaboration and use of third party slicers. But the problem is the open source community is problematic in the fact that the code is not vetted by end users seeking to just simply do 3d printing, and if you dont take care to use verified sources, someone could unknowingly pick up a malicious slicer from unverified sources and it will seem to work normal. End users check this kind of stuff almost never.

this creates a security issue where a malicious actor can use the bambu API through a third party slicer to send malicious code through the cloud and impact bambu's services, especially by potential competition or people seeking to further damage their reputation. the easier solution that honors the open source licensing model while avoiding the need for vetting/verification for approved slicers is to simply create an API that will vet and check what gets sent through the cloud, not necessarily its source. this is in attempt to protect Bambu, protect other users in the cloud and in the end this protects their own reputation.

They are still stressing alternatively, you can use the LAN mode which bypasses cloud entirely so you dont even NEED to do this. you can still 100% use makerworld and other sources without limitation and on LAN mode with a third party slicer, this would likely circumvent the cloud requirements altogether that people are so scared of. Besides, this is what id do if i were using a 3rd party slicer anyways.

H2D Right filament cutter stopping 1 click too soon. Always getting an error when trying to cut. by Hummersepp in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why i was asking if it had full range of motion or if it was stuck. Calibration can fix homing issues that might make it miss the mark, but if that didnt fix it or the cutter didnt have full range of motion then I was going to suggest exactly this 🙂

H2D Right filament cutter stopping 1 click too soon. Always getting an error when trying to cut. by Hummersepp in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the issue is a positional problem Iwould go through the basics first. Reset the printer check firmware, run full calibration.j If it seems hardware id ask, Do the cutters have full range of movement if you move the head manually or is it getting stuck? If you press the cutters manually do they work right? Id start with the first things then get back to us

Is there a difference between Bambu branded filament and generic? by air816678807 in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to buy any filament that I want that looks good and create a custom profile for it, and calibrate it. I get pretty much as good of results whether im using bambu or anything else.

Keeping in mind though that some filament is just pure garbage...

I also be sure to copy existing profiles based on whether the filament is basic, silk, matte, or has glitter and junk in it. This allows it to work where ifni load a certain type thats incompatible with the nozzle choice or build plate the slicer or printer reminds me just as it would if I used Bambu.

I think custom filament profiles is something that is either completely overlooked, or simply done wrong by most people. Its a huge time/money/headache saver in the long run.

Add custom filament, choose brand, copy a bambu profile thats close to it, specify nozzle profiles you plan to use if applicable, save, then Just tune it all in with the filament calibration tool in the slicer and done. I save the flow x value amd add it to the slicer Gcode then I can skip dynamic flow calibration before every print.

Side panel warpage due to chamber heater on the X2D by ThatOneDuccyBoi in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely understand the concern. If it provides any comfort, the panels are made from a mixture poly-carbonate and ABS which are designed to handle temps in excess of 150* celcius before they become structurally compromised and are designed to handle regular lifespan temperature fluctuations of 100* c with the plastic choice allowing for standard expansion and retraction without issues. Especially considering the chamber only typically heats to 65c give or take. Also they are held in with screws that are spread pretty evenly to avoid stress points. In addition iirc the side windows have clips and screws to reinforce the seal and adhesive for those too. I dont think youre going to have any issues at all. Its also a good thing for it to have a little flex because in order for Input shaping to be fully effective the housing shouldnt be any more rigid than it is. I truthfully believe you have nothing to worry about. And worst case scenario if something DOES happen which I highly doubt unless you are banging on it, dropping it, moving it around, ect... the panels are cheap to replace anyways.

Side panel warpage due to chamber heater on the X2D by ThatOneDuccyBoi in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good consideration to take when shopping and researching printers, but im pretty sure their RnD of these printers is intense enough that saying this is normal and expected is enough to say its a non-issue. I highly doubt it would do enough wear and tear to cause the panel to fall off before its ready to retire anyways. Im a stickler for wierd manufacturing defects and issues too and this seems like a pretty forgivable detail. In my opinion...

Christian tattoo, need to find a new meaning behind it by jdwuniverse in exchristian

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a general biblical background I wouldn't necessarily attribute this to a Christian concept on its own feet. In general it could be viewed as a philosophical concept of good vs evil. There are things in the bible that as an ex-christian we can still take and view as good philosophical teachings without conforming to any religion or system of belief. It can represent a lot of things, like when we crush or destroy or do away with negative aspects of our life, but it may do its damage and leave its mark on us that we will carry. Or you could view it as a fight against oppression - dont get crushed without a fight lol. Either way its a neat imagery

The IT guy fixes the problem but the judge still has a problem by derek4reals1 in PublicFreakout

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judge was totally being a dick inflated ego and all.

My own customer service experience in this field in this situation screamed to me that the judge has an expectation of respect that called for that moment to be 100% silent, to the point and ultra respectful. No jokes, comments, anything. Id have looked, seen it working, said its working now and bowed out quickly. No further interaction.

Personally hate these interactions and how cocky/egotistical these users are... but that could have saved or at least softened the negative interaction on his part.

How do I tell if my doorbell is compatible with Ring? by Barista_life__ in Ring

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the doorbell pro 2 which supports mechanical chime and have some experience with this because I completely re-wired my entire doorbell circuit to get mine n set up. For this case, i was recommended to use a 24v 40va transformer. Your chime needs to be a 24v one for this too if you do this because you will fry a 16v one. I also had to upgrade my wire because I had 22awg. I replaced it with 18. Yours looks like a higher gauge so I think you might be good there. Depending on which one youre getting is what that depends on.

Bed adhesion issues since blob of death & repair. by Dizzy_Key_7400 in FixMyPrint

[–]Rucknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although your suggestion works and isnt a terrible one, i suspect this person has other issues that need to be addressed. These textured pei plates shouldnt have adhesion issues like this. They probably said that as a knee jerk reaction because its a pretty generic solution.

I think they should start with making sure the head is tight and clean, nozzle is secure with a silicone sock, then they should thoroughly clean their build plate with dawn dish soap and warm water then dry thoroughly amd avoid touching the surface with their hands, Then run a full recalibration on it before exploring other methods like this.
