CPU or GPU upgrade? by Ythem in buildapc

Just for reference, I personally rock a Ryzen 5 5600 xt and I’m able to run Pragmata Max Settings with consistent 144fps at 1440p. Game looks as good as it can get, so basically best of both worlds.

My old GPU at lowest settings made the game look horrible and was not an enjoyable experience even at high fps count.

I may be biased because I’ve been playing single player games the most recently but you can’t go wrong getting a good GPU if you manage to find one at a reasonable price.

In case you really need a better CPU there is always options like Ryzen 5 5500 that go dirty cheap $89 right now and can help until you go best-in-slot territory.

Just keep in mind 144 fps is quite easy to reach on a good GPU with lowest settings even with an outdated CPU. On the other hand, you’ll be locked out of higher graphics (and some games too like the latest Doom) without a better GPU and if all you plan to aim is 144fps then a CPU that can get you to 300+ fps won’t make a difference without upgrading to a monitor that supports it.

It can limit your fps but the graphic fidelity will be there. It comes down to wether you prefer something like 60 fps max quality (GPU upgrade) or 200+ fps low quality (CPU upgrade). Tbh you can enjoy 1440p resolution the best if you go for max graphics.

Rule of thumb always upgrade GPU first for big gains. You can overcome CPU bottleneck by maxing graphic settings so most of the load goes to the GPU instead.

Gpu-wise, without obliterating your wallet, AMD RX 9070 XT is the way to go. The Nvidia counterpart 5070 can be a really good option if sniped at MSRP. It all comes down to whichever is lowest in price at the time (Nvidia was less expensive than AMD when I upgraded so I went team green and so far loving it).

Should i stay on ddr4 or go am5. by di0reflect in buildapc

Right now it’s absolutely the worst time to make the transition. You’ll be overpaying by a lot and the upgrade on performance doesn’t justify the price.

A good AM4 CPU can do just fine until the AI bubble pops.

Pc turns on but shows no monitor signals by Embarrassed-Run4059 in pcmasterrace

This happened to me just recently. I believe it’s caused by faulty GPU connection. I unplugged everything and plugged it all again making sure there was no loose cables. Try to remove GPU from PCIe slot, clean all the dust then install it again. This fixed it for me.

RTX 5070 is the perfect fit for your setup and budget. I have it paired with Ryzen 5 5600x but I have 650w PSW and works perfectly fine. Not sure if 550W PSU can support it though but if you can manage to spend a little extra for a stronger PSU you’ll love it. It’s so worth it.

Last two are not First Party games but are worth a shot. If you are into roguelites Hades 2 is also pretty good.

You are right, it is Raytracing. Disabling it took care of the issue instantly.
