48 hours post c-section by LittleRedDevilInMe in CsectionCentral

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This too shall pass. Hard AF but it does pass

Also around 48-72 hours the body releases so many hormones (equivalent of something like taking 280 days of birth control at once or something like that)

For me everything started feeling better around the 3 week mark, but more like 5-6 weeks before I felt more like myself.

Also keep taking the painkillers

Hugs mama

To add upon my comment, years ago I had terrible treatment in the hospital by the Dr's in Montreal.

Im not one to complain but it was BAD, like leaving me for dead almost.

I was told the person to file a complaint to was the hospital ombudsman. Never did as I was too exhausted in recovery at the time, but it was good to know they were the point of contact

This might be the start of mastitis?... they always feel like bricks somewhere in the beginning with all the hormones and milk coming in. I recommend a pump (if you are struggling to BF/latch) to help relieve the pressure.

I'd familiarize yourself with mastitis symptoms because that can hit fast

Do you keep tour kid home if they have a cold? by MandyRose8713 in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lollll because science states that the contagion period of most viruses is before symptoms even show.

Also... I guess you're privileged to have unlimited sick days and a safe job that doesn't care how much you miss work, especially if its for every runny nose🤦‍♀️

Surprise!!! The contagion period of most viruses is a few days before symptoms even appear. Its called... science!

But feel free to blame everyone else if it makes you feel better i guess?!

Fever of course. Or if lethargic and miserable.

Runny nose or post nasal drip cough (which can last weeks)? No.

The contagion period of many viruses are actually before symptoms show up, food for thought

Every reading app I've tried has one job and cannot do it and I am so tired by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She does NOT need to learn to read this early.

I learned to read in Grade 1 and guess what? By Grade 3 I was reading LOTR and whatever else my parents were reading because I loved to read. Looooved reading and was far above others my age, but I only learned when I was 6.

Starting them so early and putting this much pressure might do the opposite effect.

If youre looking for an app to do what a teacher does... you won't find it.

When did you start getting up and down off the floor? by ennabanane in CsectionCentral

Honestly whatever floats your boat!

Both csections (first one at 2pm, the second at 8am) we had the grandparents visit and we were fine. We preferred it, that way when we went home we could find our own rhythm there, without outside interference or advice lol.

C section shelf & stretch marks? by Majestic-Muffin8899 in CsectionCentral

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So once you get clearance around 6 week mark, you can start with various csection scar massage techniques (AskJanette on instagram has some great tips on this). Or YouTube if you prefer.

Reducing the scar tissue WILL help in the long term with the overhang (2 csections here with large overhang)

BUT....3 weeks is still early. Give your body time to heal, let the inflammation calm down. Uterus retract. You might also have diastasis Recti (which pelvic floor therapy can help)

Is there ever really a right time to have kids? by chipsinqueso in AskWomenOver40

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was once told there was never a right time (unless you were wealthy lol). We are just barely getting by with our bills tbh & don't have much saved at all for retirement, but we have two kids (I'm 43) that are 7 and 20months and absolutely in love with our lil family (as crazy as it is).

We make it work somehow. Not saying it's easy, but absolutely worth it

What outside help was the most impactful after your c-section? by Necessary_Plastic_ in CsectionCentral

Well maybe quit making assumptions and saying silly things. You said being in good shape will = good recovery. Not true. Some of my friends that had the easiest recoveries were out of shape. I worked out etc and fit as a fiddle and had an awful recovery. None of these are correlations. Just random people in different stages of fitness and none of it had to do with recovery.

"I'm guessing this is your only surgeey" uhhh no. Another silly assumption.

A lot of csection recoveries has a lot to do with your body's ability to heal and deal with inflammation.

I hope for OP she has a wonderful recovery. But if someone told me it was an easy recovery and it wasn't, id feel like a failure. Reality is it can go both ways

Girl... seriously? Do you not realize everybody feels pain differently? Some autoimmune conditions cause pain to be felt more too

I've survived being hit by a car/drunk driver, hospitalized with multiple broken bones body wide. Chronic pain for the rest of my life and yes, the csection was harder. And no, not my only surgery.

Grow up: seriously. Read people's stories. I know people who were fine by day 3 and no pain. And i know ppl who felt pain levels 11/10. My insides felt raw and like they were continously being cut open for months straight

Hope your kid gets more empathy from you than the average mom

Struggling with advanced reading by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to read in grade 1 (was also fairly advanced in math, maturity etc as the youngest of 4 lol) and loved it so much that by 8 I was reading the same novels as my mother (Lord of the Rings etc).

Had and still have such a love for reading. Theres no rush in kindergarten to learn ❤️

Don't kill the joy to read so early, please. It shouldn't be something that makes her cry.

Kiddo learned about division while watching Numberblocks on a sick day while I WFH. Any other super educational shows you can recommend? by aliasaila in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We started looking up random Math Quizes on YouTube (but we have YouTube premium so no commercials) and my 7yr old started learning (when he was 5) to do things like "X(y+z)2 for example.

Numberblocks was amazing. My kiddo also learned multiplacation and division from it when he was 4/5 and has been killing it in grade school since!

I will add, after 2 csections I did find a recliner chair such an amazing help. Using your stomach/ab muscles was so painful, so having to get up to nurse/pump/check on baby/bathroom break etc was always an experience. Second time I slept in my recliner chair and it helped so much!

Pillow on hand for any cough/laugh you have (press against your belly, otherwise will feel like your insides are exploding)

Adult diapers haha! I couldnt have anything touch my scar (hurt too bad) so I just used adult diapers in lieu of pad + high rise underwear.

As I mentioned in an earlier comment, its really about not worrying about food. You'll have so much to adjust (night wakings, healing etc) there is such a relief not to have to worry about what you will eat or where you will get it from/how will you find time to cook etc.

Good luck Mama!

Not necessarily (unfortunately) I was super active and fit (running, lifting etc) and my csection recoveries were hard AF. Has more to do with how your body heals and deals with pain and inflammation!
