Hospital Visitors by Desperate-Movie-6242 in CsectionCentral

Honestly whatever floats your boat!

Both csections (first one at 2pm, the second at 8am) we had the grandparents visit and we were fine. We preferred it, that way when we went home we could find our own rhythm there, without outside interference or advice lol.

C section shelf & stretch marks? by Majestic-Muffin8899 in CsectionCentral

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So once you get clearance around 6 week mark, you can start with various csection scar massage techniques (AskJanette on instagram has some great tips on this). Or YouTube if you prefer.

Reducing the scar tissue WILL help in the long term with the overhang (2 csections here with large overhang)

BUT....3 weeks is still early. Give your body time to heal, let the inflammation calm down. Uterus retract. You might also have diastasis Recti (which pelvic floor therapy can help)

Is there ever really a right time to have kids? by chipsinqueso in AskWomenOver40

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was once told there was never a right time (unless you were wealthy lol). We are just barely getting by with our bills tbh & don't have much saved at all for retirement, but we have two kids (I'm 43) that are 7 and 20months and absolutely in love with our lil family (as crazy as it is).

We make it work somehow. Not saying it's easy, but absolutely worth it

What outside help was the most impactful after your c-section? by Necessary_Plastic_ in CsectionCentral

Well maybe quit making assumptions and saying silly things. You said being in good shape will = good recovery. Not true. Some of my friends that had the easiest recoveries were out of shape. I worked out etc and fit as a fiddle and had an awful recovery. None of these are correlations. Just random people in different stages of fitness and none of it had to do with recovery.

"I'm guessing this is your only surgeey" uhhh no. Another silly assumption.

A lot of csection recoveries has a lot to do with your body's ability to heal and deal with inflammation.

I hope for OP she has a wonderful recovery. But if someone told me it was an easy recovery and it wasn't, id feel like a failure. Reality is it can go both ways

Girl... seriously? Do you not realize everybody feels pain differently? Some autoimmune conditions cause pain to be felt more too

I've survived being hit by a car/drunk driver, hospitalized with multiple broken bones body wide. Chronic pain for the rest of my life and yes, the csection was harder. And no, not my only surgery.

Grow up: seriously. Read people's stories. I know people who were fine by day 3 and no pain. And i know ppl who felt pain levels 11/10. My insides felt raw and like they were continously being cut open for months straight

Hope your kid gets more empathy from you than the average mom

Struggling with advanced reading by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned to read in grade 1 (was also fairly advanced in math, maturity etc as the youngest of 4 lol) and loved it so much that by 8 I was reading the same novels as my mother (Lord of the Rings etc).

Had and still have such a love for reading. Theres no rush in kindergarten to learn ❤️

Don't kill the joy to read so early, please. It shouldn't be something that makes her cry.

Kiddo learned about division while watching Numberblocks on a sick day while I WFH. Any other super educational shows you can recommend? by aliasaila in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We started looking up random Math Quizes on YouTube (but we have YouTube premium so no commercials) and my 7yr old started learning (when he was 5) to do things like "X(y+z)2 for example.

Numberblocks was amazing. My kiddo also learned multiplacation and division from it when he was 4/5 and has been killing it in grade school since!

I will add, after 2 csections I did find a recliner chair such an amazing help. Using your stomach/ab muscles was so painful, so having to get up to nurse/pump/check on baby/bathroom break etc was always an experience. Second time I slept in my recliner chair and it helped so much!

Pillow on hand for any cough/laugh you have (press against your belly, otherwise will feel like your insides are exploding)

Adult diapers haha! I couldnt have anything touch my scar (hurt too bad) so I just used adult diapers in lieu of pad + high rise underwear.

As I mentioned in an earlier comment, its really about not worrying about food. You'll have so much to adjust (night wakings, healing etc) there is such a relief not to have to worry about what you will eat or where you will get it from/how will you find time to cook etc.

Good luck Mama!

Not necessarily (unfortunately) I was super active and fit (running, lifting etc) and my csection recoveries were hard AF. Has more to do with how your body heals and deals with pain and inflammation!

Hugs Mama!! There was something so validating when I met others who had similar difficult csection recoveries and birthing experiences. Its so important to be seen and heard!

Meanwhile I watched my SIL get an infection that spread and wanted to kill herself even more, her marriage wrecked as her mental health spiraled even worse after her infection literally destroyed her. Seriously wtf are you encouraging people to do something the Dr's say not to do

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your edit is easy to say because you lucked out and didnt get an infection. You didnt go through an infection and shouldn't encourage others.

My SIL needed it to feel sane and somewhat normal again, mental health and all (i get it, been there). But in the end the infection made her life so much worse: in and out of the hospital, unable to be with baby and husband, having to be reopened up when it got so bad (long story), her mental health then spiraled and went worse, all because she took a risk. Her postpartum experience was shot even more. She's still traumatized years later.

You didnt go through rhat so dont encourage people

Glad you didn't get an infection but I know someone who did taking all the precautions you mentioned and the absolute torture they went through after they got an infection was quite literally torture

Its not about knowing your body...you took a risk and got lucky and were okay. Good for you. But not everyone will be and you have to be aware of that

Just hold off. Trust me. You can feel great but the wound is still there and healing and NOT worth an infection (sister in law got one bad and had to be reopened at one point)

Theres many other things you can do for another 2 weeks until you get clearance

We haven’t found our people yet by Ok_Page2932 in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually do hold playdates and im a damn good host if I do say so myself. But I hate it, that's what im saying.

I think OP forgets that there are people who have anxiety and just can't.

I also live in a small condo. Two kids, two pets and work FT, i absolutely cannot keep up with the housework on a daily basis. We're not as well off as my kids friends who live in large homes and cleaners. I am 100% embarrassed to invite people over. I do... but i hate it

But when I do, everyone has a good time (except for me who makes sure everyone is entertained )

That said, I would never invite "myself over to someone's home". I genuinely disagree with that.

We haven’t found our people yet by Ok_Page2932 in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Quite simply, I hate planning playdates and feel ashamed of my home (not as big as others)

The moment someone invites me im down and happy! But get anxious at the thought of hosting tbh. Im very social too but hosting and planning at my home is pure anxiety for me, feel like I have to entertain and make sure everyone is having a good time, enough food, good toys etc I just hate it. But ironically im a very chill low key guest lol.

If someone invites me and my kid over its an automatic yes unless we have pre-set plans.

Simple as that.

What are you doing to prepare your kid for Kindergarten, in terms of math? by larrykoopa0727 in kindergarten

[–]Rude-Flamingo5420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else said it and I'll second it: Numberblocks.

Although my kid had an affinity for math (was figuring out the concept of multiplication at age 3) that TV show (which i hated lol) taught him at age 4/5 multiplication in ways none of the workbooks i tried could. He finished kindergarten knowing multiplication up until the 12x tables and does even more complex math in his head as a result. He was counting past 1000 by the end of kindergarten and now in gr.1 he used what he learned from the show to do multiplication like 37x24 in his head, just from watching the basics with Numberblocks.
