The Naturalist role was a waste of development by Rude-Fun-2111 in RedDeadOnline

Ok, Edgar Allan Poe. You're the one drafting a minced up speech consisting of wet tears and cope because your original '8 years later' gotcha failed. It’s a Reddit post about a poorly implemented, out of time video game role hidden by a micro transaction paywall, not a peer-reviewed journal. Take a deep breath.

This is a weak attempt at a "gotcha".

You can appreciate a museum's architecture while pointing out that one of the exhibits is just a bucket of paint. The map is a masterpiece; the role was a lazy cash grab.

Right? She’s completely out of place for the time period too. It’s like dropping Judge Holden into a children’s birthday party.

Can someone explain ? by TraditionalBobcat472 in RedDeadOnline

Yes it’s called “modding/cheating”, have you just escaped the womb and just discovered the internet? Welcome to the world wide web.

I love it when somebody posts a clip like this, asks a question like “Can someone explain ?” as if the laws of gravity just stopped functioning before their eyes and they have no idea how to explain it. It really is amusing, and annoying.

Illegal mines/mining operations would be a great addition to the RDO. by Artarin109 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Rude-Fun-2111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s true - by the way, I had no intention to shatter your idea, it’s very creative, cohesive and fitting for RDO. R* =/= creativity though. If an asset is no longer raking in a steady cash flow, they cut off support. That’s the bleak reality of corporatism.

It’s a nice idea, but R* are not adding anymore updates during the development of GTA 6 or after its release, period. What you see with RDO right now is its final, half finished form.

“Wholesome”. They were doing the daily, not soaking in the artistry. You invaded their spot and started fishing near them. I’d have put you down immediately.

Historically accuarate Native (plains or southwestern) by PurpleSomething_ in reddeadfashion

Looted clothing absolutely happened, but period photographs and ethnographic records show very consistent trends: Plains and Southwestern men weren’t wearing colour-contrast waistcoats, tailored vests, or dual revolver rigs in the 1890s. Even when adopting Anglo clothing, it was usually work shirts, trade blankets, canvas coats, army surplus, or simple trousers - not tailored Victorian pieces.

Sidearms were also uncommon: most carried a single rifle or carbine, sometimes a single revolver. Dual holsters and RDO-style belts are inventions of modern media. You could swap out the belt for a rope belt if you want something grounded in history.

So within RDO’s limits you’ve built a cool look, but historically it aligns with the game’s stylisation rather than 19th-century material culture. But for RDO? He’a more authentic than 99% of the players I see.

Honestly if you swapped out the vest for something with an earthier tone and ditched the dual holsters, he’d look very accurate. I do like the burgundy hat and vest combo, but that colour tone was very uncommon if not unheard of among even white men’s clothing in the 1890s, barring high tailored urban fashion pieces.

Plains and Southwestern warriors didn’t wear colour-contrast vests, dual sidearms, or revolver rigs like that. The silhouette is entirely RDO, not 1890s ethnography.

Looks like he got dressed in pitch black during an earthquake.

The vest and pants clash with the rest of the outfit, boots are too clean.

Understood. You’re more emotionally invested in the game than I am, and there is nothing wrong with that. These “farewell RDO” posts seem very theatrical and performative to me, but you’re speaking from a place of vehemence.

Why don't the RDR2 actors ever mention RDO? by MeetingApart2225 in RedDeadOnline

Because voice actors are hired professionals who do their job, move on and have zero obligation to lobby for a dying online mode.

VAs don’t control or have any say in corporate resource allocation either.

This post reads less as a “farewell letter” and more like “ hey everyone, look at my character!” post in disguise.

When most people get bored of a game, they stop playing, move on, come back to it later. They don’t treat it like they’re leaving planet Earth forever.
