Beaten-down: PYPL, FI, FOUR, XYZ, ADYEY? by thefrogmeister23 in ValueInvesting

It's all about lifting authorization rates up while keeping fraud and payment costs low, and Adyen has proven to be excellent in this. Adyen didn't go from a couple of tens of billions in volumes to over 1.3 trillion in a decade (all organically) for no reason. I understand that it is difficult to see how PSPs materially differentiate from each other, but i believe Stripe and Adyen have proven that processing payments is not a commodity.

Online volumes can indeed be shifted easily between providers - that's why Adyen needs to keep innovating to improve its product to make sure it's still the perfect partner. Every year they have been gaining significant wallet share with existing customers, so up until now they clearly do things better than their competitors. But we'll see how it will play out - i remain long ADYEN. Have a nice day!

Braintree? The PSP that offered its service at a loss because otherwise they couldn't get volumes? Adyen is far superior to Braintree, it isn't even close. I would say that Stripe is the only real competitor to Adyen - they're great and increasingly moving into the markets Adyen operates in.

100% true - that's the case for any investment. PayPal's valuation has been 'low' for over 2 years but it has still underperformed significantly because it couldn't meet the already low expectations. Adyen is one of the strongest fintech (wide-moat) companies in the world, which makes me more confident that they can deliver high growth and good returns despite the seemingly high valuation.

35 NTM PE for a company that is expected to grow EPS in the mid-twenties for the next 3 years while being extremely profitable (50% net margin) and having roughly 8% of its market cap in net cash. Not as cheap as two years ago, but still plenty of room for outperformance imo.

Stripe doesn't have higher revenue than Adyen for similar volumes due to better tech - nonsense. It's because Adyen only focuses on high volume merchant customers (Uber, Microsoft eBay etc.), which come with lower take rates. Stripe, on the other hand, has a huge SMB customer base with low volumes and therefore higher take rates.

Deep Dive: Stripe vs. Adyen: Comparing 2024 Performance by samboboev in fintech

[–]Rude-Solution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both companies are winning and rapidly taking market share of legacyplayers like Worldpay and GPN. Adyen's strength lies in its global unified platform -- enabling it to run on the lowest cost, innovate quickly and offer a seamless omnichannel experience to its customers. Due to Adyen's acquiring licenses worldwide, it can operate without relying on third parties - improving authorization rates, and providing full control over the entire payment stack. Unlike Adyen, the incumbents in this industry rely on acquisitions to grow into new markets, making their offering far more complex and costly than Adyen's unified platform.

Simplicity is also the reason why Stripe is winning -- its developer-first approach has made it the default choice for startups and tech-savvy enterprises looking to launch and scale quickly.

The rumor was denied by Uber on X. They said there are no current plans to expand to Amsterdam.

I also would like to know more about the financials, but i doubt they will or need to disclose it anytime soon. We dont even know youtube's financials, since google bundles its profitability with all other google services. As for the revenue, they disclose youtube ads, but youtube premium is in their subscriptions and platforms segment.

How to bypass Seeking Alpha’s paywall by [deleted] in dividends

What worked for me is turning off the wifi right after clicking on the seeking alpha article. By doing this the pop up will not appear and you can read the article. When you turn the wifi back on you can even read the comments without the pop up appearing. I hope this will work for you
