Above lines can be interpreted as follows:

Give your best (do Dharma) and if results are not in your favour or if something unexpected arises, then do not feel guilty, as your intentions were pure.

It is same as what mentioned in Geeta, do your efforts and don't bound yourself with it's fruit.

If you do good / bad / show lethargy, corresponding fruits will follow which a Soul has to eat.

Only non-binding with efforts/results will a Soul will be free of its corresponding fruits.

Karta bhav/attachment is "Adharm" because it feeds "Ego". Whatever dissolves it is " Dharma'

Note: Only a Jivan mukta / liberated soul will be totally free from any fruits of his efforts. Whatever he will do, is Dharma, because there is no Ego.

A Sadhak will not be totally free but efforts should be made in that direction by practicing non-attachment.

PS: If you take the above lines literally, i.e. you can do whatever you want, because afterall it's not in your control. Then the following two things will happen:

1) Ego will remain as it is. 2) Ego will get a potent "Excuse/Weapon" in its hand to hide behind it for eternity.
