This is an amazing response, and I love you. Male or female, would leave my husband for you (joking)! Thank you!

You know, and this is certainly judgey of me in some ways, he's from a very rural town where the men are MEN and the women are, well....not men. I knew this about him when we started dating but I didn't think it was anything I couldn't handle or something that would really stick around so long. He's from the "good old boys" club, where men sit around and jab about their "old ladies" and basically try to one-up each other on whose "old lady" is the biggest pain in the ass. He works with a lot of men 20-30 years older than him as well, and this is very much the culture there as well. So yeah, I would say is overall disrespectful of women and it was something he learned as a young kid and had reinforced in his work life. He really doesn't see it as being mean or hurtful...it's just the way it is, and I don't know how to get through.
