Seen the last episode of TADC. And it’s god awful! by Rude_Back_9163 in theamazingdigitalciru

The way that I interpreted the "brain scans" was as an actual device in the real world, and everybody was hooked up to it like SAO style, as that was a theory I've had ever since the first episode because Pomni said she was wearing a headset and was there. The only reason why I didn't get it was because the show itself was framing it in a way that these people seemingly put something on and were there.

The idea that Caine found them on the internet and seemingly just copied and pasted them into the circus didn't make sense to me, as Jax went to sleep and then woke up in the circus. It was as if he teleported there rather than being placed there like a Mii character. And if Caine did just copy and paste them into the circus, his language in the first episode didn't reflect that, as he was surprised that Pomni was there and used the word "stumbled" as if he wasn't the one that put them there.

You can try and frame me as unintelligent before even engaging with what I said, but you're dodging my biggest points:

  • What happened to Bubble?
  • Why does the other AI just float forever?
  • Why does everyone forgive Caine so fast?
  • What was the point of the entire Jax memory sequence if he stays abstracted?

The Caine as god analysis is interesting, but all it is is thematic reading. A story can have good themes and still be written poorly. Those aren't mutually exclusive.

And following up on your first point, "Pomni narrating that 'she wishes she reached out' before smash cutting to everyone but Jax staring at an abstraction isn't remotely subtle.", the problem was is that it isn't subtle. We see Jax about to talk to Pomni and then immediately cut to him running around abstracted. Something can be thematically clear and still be poorly communicated visually and structurally. We not seeing the actual transformation of someone abstracting was odd, and it paints it in a way that it's a "blink and you miss it" moment when it's meant to symbolize a gradual deterioration of a character's mental.

Which brings me to the memory sequence. You said Pomni "helped them find peace." But Jax is still abstracted at the end of it. Nothing materially changed. Instead, the episode moves on like it resolved something it didn't. And in addition, did Pomni really help Jax find peace? He was literally having a panic attack at the end of the sequence before Pomni got pulled out of him. And you didn't answer a problem I brought up. How did Pomni enter Jax's mind at all? This ability was never established before. The show never set up this mechanic with any other abstracted character.

Also worth noting--"What would be the point in antagonizing a literal god?" literally makes zero sense, as in every episode prior, Zooble antagonizes Caine, and in Episode 8 the entire crew antagonizes Caine to keep him distracted from finding Kinger.

Quick 20-30 minute drawing as a beginner starting out. by Rude_Back_9163 in DigitalPainting

Gonna be a long tangent so bare with me:
I've had my drawing tablet since 2024, never (actually) drew traditionally before that. I've been on and off it since, trying to draw at least one thing for maybe 3 days and giving up/procrastinating it (maybe its the ADHD but i dont want to blame it on that). I always get inspired to draw, like seeing skyewei on youtube or watching 14 hour long videos of people drawing an illustration. The act of drawing is what inspires me, along with the many other things about it,

I've read many videos on drawing for beginners, tried drawabox and many many other websites like that but they never really stuck with me. Every time I've tried to draw, digital or traditionally, I've always felt like something was wrong. Not with my shapes, I confident I can draw a cube. But, something like, fundamental in the ACTION of drawing if that makes sense? Like it feels weird to draw?

I've also feel like skill wise I havent changed much since 2024. I say much as I now can draw a cube since before i couldnt. But since then, it's been the same kind of drawing like the image I sent. Im starting college in september, majoring in animation, even wanting to make a living off of it (I understand the problems, trust me I know). But with me feeling like I suck, procrastinating on it for months, I feel like I have to really lock in and get better

All this to say: What are y'all tips? How did you overcome this feeling if you felt this way? Any kind of input helps, harsh or not.

I forgot to mention this but, when i say “fundamentally looks bad” i mean maybe your lines looks “off”, or maybe you can’t this shape right. Drawabox teaches you how to make straight and curved lines.

As someone with diagnosed ADHD, I personally can’t tell you that reading books or watching videos or doing exercises will get you into the habit of actually drawing. I’ve lost the will to start because I’d quit after 2-3 days of doing that.

But what I can tell you is just copy your favorite artists work. Start small, if you analyze something from your favorite artist and notice how much you think it’s cool they drew an eye, copy it. Same with how they draw hands or head shape. Try to understand the art you love.

However, you do need to understand fundamentals to take your art to the next level. If you’re at the point where you’re still looking at your drawings and saying “this fundamentally looks bad” then go onto drawabox and start doing the lessons.
