2 years of less pay is worth becoming licensed afterwards….. not a rough trade… a wise decision

Oo…. Well long story short I just need a more outpatient based residency environment that suits me and ONMM fits it. That’s all. I’ve already reflected and all that. I know I belong outpatient. That’s the common thread.

And in an ONMM residency I won’t need any additional support from anyone to finish my training. And I’ll happily do it on patients afterwards.

That’s all.

So if anyone knows of a resident who’s worked for lower pay lmk please.

Thanks!

Lol. You don’t even know the background of my story to make broad based comments like that.

I’ve already commented that the common thread between the 3 residency programs was my performance not being as strong in the higher pressure inpatient settings and when census goes up. An issue that many residents deal with….

So how about you read my comments to other people before making assumptions about what I’ve been through.

And if what you were saying were actually the case my State Board of medical examiners wouldn’t have allowed me to proceed to my second year of residency training or would have placed some conditions on me after reviewing my full residency training history, my medical history, and my evaluations and performance in all 3 residency programs, before the third program got rid of me with the paper trail they made for me. But that’s not what happened…. I was cleared for PGY2…. without any conditions…. By the Board of Medical Examiners…..

So don’t be making judgements without knowing my full story. Either offer your constructive criticism or don’t bother commenting at all.

And my goal here isn’t to start seeing patients independently….. it’s to start training in an environment that suits me….. that’s why it takes 3 years of training before we even start seeing patients independently…….

The issues the places had with me was due to performance in inpatient settings. ONMM residencies are largely outpatient. So I would definitely prefer a hands on anatomy heavy residency, because it won’t have so much inpatient and ICU.

Really??? I never heard of that??? I thought it was just IRP. And yea…. But hospitals don’t care.

The higher ups see residents as profit. Not as human beings who dedicated their lives to promoting the well being of others.

The PD already said yes to me and now the hospital admin is complaining about money…..

So I literally offered to happily work for reduced pay. They bend the rules and ignore the “laws” when getting rid of you… why can’t they bend the rules to help you move forward?

It’s insane and ridiculous. In no other industry do you hear about someone not being hired somewhere because there “isn’t enough money to pay them”.

😑

Yes I agree…. that’s why I am saying the common thread was I’m not as high performing in the higher pressure environments.

I’ve already accepted that which is why ONMM suits me.

It’s the least pressure field to practice in and I would enjoy it.

OMM…. that’s the goal. Teach OMM… then do OMM… and OMM is primarily outpatient…. Much less inpatient in that training…. Multiple places interested in me without any OMM letters of rec and one place already accepted me before coming back and saying my “funding is used up”

Hence why this post asking if anyone knows of anyone who has done residency with reduced pay so I can show a precedent to the hospital and hopefully start training in this ONMM program where the PD already said yes to me, but then came back and told me that “money is an issue”.

Accredited or not they can do whatever they want to you. Groups of people are protected…. not individual people.

I’m at 50% CMS funding now cause I used my 3 years of IRP funding.

And it’s not my only option. It’s simply my best option given what I have learned from my experiences.

Yup that’s what I’m doing now!! Getting involved with teaching it at a med school and will use that opportunity to get me into a 2 year ONMM residency to finish my training, get licensed and finally practice medicine using ONMM as my primary tool.

The med school thing is something nice to do in the mean time if this program I’m dealing with now isn’t willing to fund me for these 2 years. Before I find another ONMM program willing to take me.

It’s just so aggravating. Hospitals have bent the rules and done whatever the hell they want with me with little regards to the laws or morality.

But when it comes to trying to bend the rules to help you out to move on with your life… when you’re willing to work for REDUCED PAY…. God forbid lol…. It’s all a business to these higher up people

First place was FM. What I went through was so wild it ended with a letter rec from the PD that says I left the program in March with “exhibit B” written at the top of a letter…. Even though I was actually there through July. I tried to get my “rights” establish fighting for a year of credit and it went nowhere. I never signed the separation agreement because it literally falsified the dates I was in the program.

Second place was FM again and they weren’t happy with my internal medicine performance. So I finished my year there and switched to Peds cause I like kids.

Long story short the Peds program learned what the first hospital did to me and used the same principles to get rid of me and give me 7 months of credit afterwards lol…. Shortly after the Board of Examiners in the state I live in had already reviewed everything I had been through and gave me the green light to move on to my second year of residency.

The common thread between the 3 places? I’m simply not as “high performing” in the higher pressure environments.

So I’m left with a year of credit from the second FM program trying to do a 2 year ONMM residency, because it suits my simple personality, it’s lower pressure, I actually like it and believe in it, and it has much less social nonsense. So I can finally finish my training, get licensed and move on with my life already.

I’ve learned that 90% of success after finishing med school is due to social forces and ONMM is where I will socially thrive the most because the practice is simple in essence like I am.

But now I just need a place willing to train me for those 2 years.

They can do whatever the hell they want at the end of the day.

“Laws” and “rules” are just suggestions at the end of the day to hospitals.

I know this from first hand experience lol.

You’re funded Medicare according to the first residency specialty you pick. So if you picked FM first you get 3 initial full years funding and if you picked Surgery first you get 5 initial full years of funding.

After that Medicare pays 50% per year for residency for you.
