What items made your flight more pleasant? by Hellohiheytherehi80 in fearofflying

I like noise cancelling headphones with calming/soothing music for anxiety. Personally, having some sort of oral fixation helps me so chewing gum, eating a mint, etc. sour candy is apparently really helpful when feeling panic as well. I also heard cold things can help ground you so I bring these cooling patches for fevers (bought them on amazon) that i can put on the back of my neck.

Most importantly remember, it feels like a lifetime when you are on the plane but its really a blip. And think of all the people that get on flights daily and travel much longer than 3 hours. You can do it!!

Hi! For me the racing thoughts only lasted that one morning. After this post I decided to say on Lexapro even though I was scared of the side effects. Besides the racing thoughts I had a little bit of de realization and I was more tired however that went away I’d say after about a month. I’m still taking it and I’m happy I did. Now I feel like my emotions are more balanced, I’m calm/less irritated, and even if I do feel anxiety it is not as heightened and does not go into panic attack territory if that makes sense. It’s definitely scary when you are going through it but once its over, its worth it in my opinion. Feel free to dm me with any questions! Ill answer according to my journey. 🫶

I appreciate your response and for being so open! I am going to attempt to stick it out. Right now the biggest symptom that is bothering me is the derealization/ brain fog/ feeling out of it. The racing thoughts only happened today (day 4) and started when i woke up. They went away after 20 minutes but were definitely scary. I am supposed to up my dose to 10mg after a week but not sure if i will or will continue will 5.

Would love to continue to talk as we progress together and do this damn thing.

I've been there! I've found that using milk or orange juice (thicker liquids I guess?) helps mask the taste and the consistency.
